Great topic. I do have auto buys but they generally revolve around series and not just an author. For example... an auto buy for me is Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series, but I haven't read any of her other stories. Some books are auto reads - meaning I'll get them from the library. Other authors I just adore - like Nalini Singh, Meljean Brook and Larissa Ione and buy their stuff!
