I read one Diana Palmer book and that was enough. Her heroes are unappealing. I've also not been able to get into Debbie Macomber books...just a little dry for me. And I never caught the Twilight craze.

But, I loved Outlander and The Lovely Bones:)

I like mature characters. New Adult issues don't capture my attention. I like characters with a lot of life on them, not ones who are just getting started. Simple personal preference!

I like your lists. There are books on both lists that I sighed over that you weren't going to read, but that's okay. Many times I have books that I have no desire to read, maybe because of hype, and then with enough time given I may finally pick it up. Usually I'm not disappointed. I read Life of Pi and really wish I hadn't. I do have a list for that topic!

You are SO RIGHT about THE LIFE OF PI...it starts out really lovely, and then a few chapters later you realize "my God, it's going to be him and the tiger for the whole thing, isn't it?" I kept slogging through, thinking "It's won all these awards, and is 100 chapters long [not an exaggeration]--the ending's bound to be really good and redeem the whole thing, right?"

*crickets*

For me, it's most of the hyped series, any menage where the men refuse to touch, inspirational romance, Nicholas Sparks and any other tearjerky thing of that ilk...oh, I know I'm forgetting a few...

I had to read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley for an American Lit class I took a few semesters ago. UGH it was so hard to get through that I finally just checked out the audio from the library. It was a LITTLE easier to get through.

My list would be all "classic" books. I won't touch those things with a ten foot pole!

If I hadn't already read Twilight I'm not sure I would read it today. But the series did get me into reading a few years back but in my stage of reading I would not pick it up today for the 1st time.

Hunger Games was really good but I'm not sure I would pick it up again. I'll just watch the movies to relive the story. LOL

FSOG the series, the Beautiful Bastards series, Twilight, Hunger Games, and any book that has a young, virginal heroine that falls in love with the billionaire (BDSM element or not) and ménage. I'm tired of being duped into thinking that ménage is going to have a HEA/HFN and its not.
