After some thoughtful consideration, I’ve decided to make the transition from book blogger to regular reader.
I recently celebrated my 6th year of book blogging, and it’s been a great run. I discovered a whole new community of book lovers who share the same love of reading. But it’s time for me to close this chapter in my life.
Mainly it comes down to time, and blogging takes up A LOT of it. Even though I brought on some amazing ladies to help with reading and reviewing, I still spend a lot of time maintaining the blog and as a result my reading time has dwindled.
I will continue to read and review what I read on Goodreads. I will also remain active on Twitter because I still want to stalk my favorite book bloggers, bookish peeps, and authors be active in the book community. I may continue to post Kindle deals from time to time, but only on Twitter and my Facebook profile. And I will keep my Instagram account as well because I enjoy posting and looking at pictures. All other social media accounts (Facebook Page, Pinterest, Tumblr, BookLikes, Tsu) will remain online but inactive.
The reading challenges I’ve hosted (past and present) will retire – unless someone is interested in taking them over. (If you’re interested in taking over a reading challenge, please contact me.)
And I think that’s it. If I get the itch to book blog again, I may dust off this place and get back into it. But right now, I just want to read.
It’s been a pleasure being part of the online book community for the past 6 years. Thank you for welcoming me into your online lives!

Until we chat again, Happy reading :)
It's been fun!
ReplyDeleteIt has! And it brought you into my world :D
DeleteIt's been fun too and waves hello from twitter :) Yeah I stopped too. HUGS
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely see you around Twitter!
DeleteI'm sorry to hear this but I totally understand. I sometimes think it would be much more fun to just be a regular reader again. Good luck and I hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm definitely looking forward to having more time to read, among other things :)
Deleteaww, this makes me so sad, but I do understand your reasons. Are your reviewers going to be reviewing somewhere else??
ReplyDeleteSo far, I haven't heard of the girls reviewing anywhere else. They're more than welcome to chime in here if they do to let readers know :)
DeleteI completely understand but you will be missed. I really enjoyed your insights and straight shooting reviews. I'll be following on Goodreads. 😕
ReplyDeleteThanks! And I'll definitely be active on Goodreads, so we can chat and share what we're reading.
DeleteThanks for all your wonderful posts!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your support!
Deleteawww...we will miss you. Feel free to stop by my blog once in awhile and post a guest review anytime you feel the urge to do so! That goes for j9 too! I will miss your blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the open invitation! I may just take you up on it :)
DeleteYou were one of the first blogs that I started reading years ago. Thanks so much for all the great reviews and recommendations <3
ReplyDeleteYou just made me smile :)
DeleteI'll miss your blog, but I can certainly understand why you are ending it. Six years is a long time to maintain an active blog and it's a lot of work. I'm following you on Goodreads now and maybe one of these days I'll even join Twitter. Best wishes and happy reading!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lot of work. I have quite a bit of free time now. I'm still habitually going on the computer as if I have some blog stuff to do, then realize I don't. I'll see you around on Goodreads!
DeleteOh no, I'm sad... I just found you and now you're leaving. I'm going to miss you but like everyone else I can understand the need to change. I'll see on social media..Until then Best wishes, happy reading and lots of book love.
ReplyDeleteDon't be sad! I'll still be around online, and I think the other ladies will be too :)
DeleteThis makes me sad, but I totally understand. There are days when the admin of the blog and its social media channels overwhelms me. It's always been a pleasure to work with you as a fellow blogger and in my publicist role. You are always welcome to post reviews at SSBR!
ReplyDeleteIt was a tough decision but in the end I knew it was time to hang up my book blogger hat. Thanks for the invite! I may take you up on it sometime :)
DeleteYou will be missed! Your blog was one of my must read everyday *sniff*
ReplyDeleteI'll still be around on Twitter :)
DeleteI miss you already!
ReplyDeleteI miss you too! I've been on Twitter :)
DeleteI've been on the fence lately... Ive obviously slowed down on my posting so I see it as inevitable too. It's been amazing knowing you and you were one of the first bloggers I ever interacted with and I've loved following your journey. Enjoy all of the books out there and see you around!
ReplyDeleteI had thought about it every so often but it wasn't until recently (August) that I seriously considered it. It's been a month now and I have to admit I love the free time I have. I still enjoy reading but it's nice not to have pressure (put upon myself) to write a lengthy review. Even though I've stopped blogging, I'm still around on social media. I don't think I could leave the community entirety :)
DeleteOh wow. Your book blog was the first one I ever saw and inspired me to become a book blogger. I'm sad to see you go but I understand. I've considered not being a blogger from time to time.
ReplyDeleteAwww It makes me happy that my blog inspired someone else to share their love of books :)
DeleteI can only imagine how hard that decision was to make. I haven't been super active commenting but have always enjoyed your blog. I know I'll see you around on Twitter so I'll see you around. It's only the end here.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy all that new free time. Blogging takes a lot of work and the way you ran this blog so efficiently only looks easy. There had to have been a ton of work. Enjoy your reading time and new time for other things as well! See you on Twitter!!
I really enjoyed blogging but it was taking up a lot of time. I hardly read this year. That was an eye-opener. And yep, I'm definitely still on Twitter :)
DeleteI'm thinking about doing the same in the near future. Blogging does take up a lot of reading time. And I've missed reading/listening to a book and just moving on to the next without having to write a review.
ReplyDeleteI've seen you mention that before (considering stopping when your hosting is up). I've thought about not book blogging anymore every so often but seriously considered it this past August. My reading time has seriously gone down. And I imagined what it would be like to have that time back, and the decision was made. And I agree - it's nice to not have to write a review (even though the pressure to do so was all me LOL).
