After losing almost all of her clients in one fell swoop following an accident involving whipped cream, private chef to Hollywood’s elite Roxie Callahan gets a call from her flighty mother, saying she’s needed home in upstate New York to run the family diner. Once she's back in the Hudson Valley, local organic farmer Leo delivers Roxie a lovely bunch of walnuts, and soon sparks—and clothing—begin to fly. Leo believes that everything worth doing is worth doing slowly…and how! But will Roxie stay upstate, or will the lure of West Coast redemption tempt her back to Tinseltown?
The title alone was enough for me to read this book, but I’ve also enjoyed this author’s romantic comedies before. Nuts was funny throughout - the author knows how to have fun with double entendres. There was a great cast of characters, from the leads to secondary characters. Grace Sheridan and Jack Hamilton also make an appearance. (Which reminds me, I need to catch up their series.) I also really enjoyed the small town atmosphere and the farming aspect. There was an element that I usually avoid if I can help it (and truth be told, had I known about Polly’s character beforehand I may not have read this book) but in this story, it worked. Leo’s backstory was solid and made me like the guy even more. Nuts was another laugh out loud read by Alice Clayton and I look forward to reading more in this series.
Memorable Moments:
"You'd have to be thirty years younger. A cucumber that size would kill you now."
"But what a way to go!."
