U.S. law enforcement agent Heather Lane can read minds. But not the future. The dream of battle and blood that recurs every night must be a fluke, some obscure terror from her own mind. What its significance might be, she can’t guess: an attack from seven psychotic vampires at once, only separated from nightmare by an eighth very different immortal. A handsome, brave man fighting at her side, a man she misses when she wakes.

Then the dream comes true. Heather is flung into a war between predators and protectors of humanity, the man from her dreams beside her again. Except now that she’s awake, she isn’t sure she can trust Ethan, or the shadow organization he represents. The U.S. military doesn’t trust either of them. But against an onslaught of evil like the one that’s coming, it will take everything they have just to survive.

In a Nutshell: This series is one of my all time favorites and this is another great addition!

Why I Read This Book: SERIES FAN! *insert Beatle-mania type screaming, hair-pulling, and emotionally-induced fainting here*

What I Liked: Ethan and Heather have an honest relationship that is rare in romance. They talk about issues, like how quickly their relationship is moving, or about them working alongside Ethan’s ex, Lisette. This series offers mature leads in sexy romances and Heather and Ethan offer that as well. They have a sexual compatibility but it’s based on their growing feelings which I love in my romance. They have an open and honest relationship, where Heather isn’t afraid to kiss Ethan in front of even her father, and Ethan doesn’t try to hide his feelings for her. Romance gold, folks, romance gold!

What I Also Liked: These books focus on one couple’s relationship but I ADORE that it happens in the Immortal Guardian’s world. Past couples I adore are here, Roland and Sarah, Bastien and Melanie, but also characters like leader Seth, human genius Chris, doomed vampire Chris, not to mention all the other incredibly hot Immortal Guardian fighters! If this author doesn’t give 3,000 year old lonely Aidan his HEA soon I’m gonna camp outside her house in protest!

The plot involves a war with an evil force and moves along at a brisk pace. I admit, I didn’t see the end coming quite like it did but I’m giddy that someone else joins Seth and his Immortal Guardians. Nope, can’t say more, but series readers will be SO satisfied as I was!

What I Didn’t Liked: Ethan isn’t my favorite Immortal Guardian. He’s young at only 100 years old and it seemed a little unfair that Immortals like Aidan, Imhotep, and Chaahk are still without partners. Still, this is just a personal note, nothing really wrong with the story.

IMO: You’re a lucky reader if you haven’t read this series (and this addition) because you’re gonna get a damn fine read!
