Jamie never expects to meet the love of his life in a tea shop. He never expects his lover, Connor, to be an Army officer about to return to Afghanistan for one last deployment and he certainly never expects that, after three short months together, Connor would want to spend the rest of his life with Jamie. When Connor leaves for Afghanistan, Jamie can't help but worry that his lover might not make it back alive. He also worries that Connor, who hasn't told his men he's gay, doesn't want him to be waiting at the base when he returns. Will the good feelings he has about their future together survive their separation?

Mini-Review

I enjoyed this short novella a lot. It’s rare that a novella is just the perfect length to tell a well rounded romance but this one did it. Jamie’s first person narration allows readers to feel his excitement and love for Connor but also his loneliness and worry when Connor is deployed. I also thought it unique that though short, this romance feels realistic, not contrived. My only criticism is that Connor isn’t as well written since the narration is totally Jamie’s. Still, the delightful ending and wonderful, warm narration made this a gay romance I can recommend for readers looking for a snack-sized read.
