In a Nutshell: Very good romance with charming characters and a passionate relationship.

The Set Up: Tripp’s mother needs him to come home but the weight of his father’s crimes nearly destroy him. Tripp meets fellow cowboy Lucho and sparks fly until Lucho realizes it’s Tripp’s father who committed a hate crime against Lucho’s family. Tripp tries to repair his father’s damages and in doing so many win Lucho’s heart as well.

Why I Read This Book: I enjoyed the first two books in this series and will continue it.

What I Liked: Tripp is an utterly charming character. We see Tripp struggle to return home where everyone sees him as an extension of his evil father; we see his love for his flawed mother and his commitment to bettering his own life. I loved the way Tripp retains his sense of humor, as when he brings grouchy Lucho dinner. Tripp has had lots of trauma in his past but he won’t give-in to it and I loved this.

Lucho is a perfect match for Tripp. He understands Tripp’s family responsibilities and wants to help him cope. Lucho’s family of Mexican-Americans is well written, as is the lovely ranch Lucho and Tripp work on (and that features the couples from the previous series books).

What I Also Liked: The relationship between Tripp and Lucho is one of friends and lovers. They way they joke with each other and then comfort each other is lovely to read. They have a sexual chemistry that leaps off the page but they also have an intense emotional connection. Lucho sees Tripp needs professional help and he doesn’t hesitate to tell Tripp so they can tackle it together. Tripp and Lucho are a couple I can see together long after the last page is read.

What I Didn’t Like: Nothing, really enjoyed this read.

IMO: This story featuring homespun cowboys in a sexy, emotional romance was just  the read I enjoyed and can recommend.
