When Caleb Devereaux's younger sister is kidnapped, this scion of a powerful and wealthy family turns to an unlikely source for help: a beautiful and sensitive woman with a gift for finding answers others cannot. While Ramie can connect to victims and locate them by feeling their pain, her ability comes with a price. Every time she uses it, it costs her a piece of herself. Helping the infuriatingly attractive and impatient Caleb successfully find his sister nearly destroys her. Even though his sexual intensity draws her like a magnet, she needs to get as far away from him as she can.
Deeply remorseful for the pain he’s caused, Caleb is determined to make things right. But just when he thinks Ramie's vanished forever, she reappears. She’s in trouble and she needs his help. Now, Caleb will risk everything to protect her—including his heart. . . .

In a Nutshell: This is a romantic thriller about a psychic who finds psychopaths by connecting to them and their victims. Her hero is a man who forces her to find his sister and then feels indebted when he learns what she endures to do it.
Why I Read This Book: I love Maya Banks. She's always on my auto-buy and I love her work. When this copy showed up at my door randomly I was jazzed.
What I Didn't Like: Unfortunately, this book didn't work for me. I stopped a few chapters in. Some of my problems may have been my own, such as severe triggers (for rape and violence). I knew what I was getting into but it was difficult to read all the same. Additionally, the angst factor in this book starts at page one and continued until I stopped. I understand that's what thrillers do but there is no break; the unfortunate circumstances continue, including triggers, until I couldn't take it anymore. There also seemed to be a repetition issue. I read along and it felt, often, like I read the same things over and over as if the author was intending to drive the points home. I think the premise of the book had potential. I love contemporary books with slight paranormal elements but this one was a miss for me.
