A drummer for the hottest rock band on the planet, David has a single, powerful weakness: Thea, the band's publicist and the woman who steals his breath away with her every move.
Only problem is, Thea doesn't date clients--or musicians. Emotionally scarred by a cheating ex, she's not about to risk her heart with a man who has groupies buzzing around him like flies. Even if his sexy smile ties her up in knots.
What she doesn't know is that David is a one-woman man...and he's madly in love with her. David's determined to prove he's worth the risk, and willing to court her, step by exquisite step. Thea's about to discover just how long and hard this handsome drummer can play.
In a Nutshell:
J9: Sigh…go read this!
Babs: I really enjoyed this book, maybe even more than Rock Addiction (my review). I love the chemistry between Thea and David.
Why We Read This Book:
J9: I love this author. I don’t normally read contemporary MF romance but I thought I’d try since it was written by this author.
Babs: I’m a huge Nalini Singh fan. I loved the first book in the series, Rock Addiction.
What We Liked:
J9: This is an intense romance that has zero manufactured tension. Drummer David has been in love with his band’s hardworking PR rep, Thea, for a long time. His longing is gorgeous in its intensity and it’s made more powerful by his respect for Thea and her decisions. Thea’s prickly personality and ball-buster persona is as much a part of her as her secret kindness—and David loves it all. I don’t want to spoil the charm of this book but how David and Thea communicate with each other is romance brilliance and will have readers sighing as I did!
Oo-wee! This author musta wanted to write erotica! and she did! The sexuality is intense here; nothing strange or kinky but beautifully and powerfully on page. Her paranormals have sex in them but it’s not dripping from every page like this novella has.
Babs: It was great to get “the rest of the story” after the first book hinted at this romance. Their chemistry was hot, just what I hoped for.
I love how confident David is—he’s been rejected by Thea but still came back. He’s like, “yeah I’m your client and you’re a couple inches taller and a couple years older but you’re hot and successful and I want you to be my woman.” I found his (not obnoxious) persistence charming and his confidence sexy!
I like that Thea didn’t cave in right away even though David was being super sweet with his wooing of her (and it doesn’t hurt he’s a really hot rock star). I also appreciate the courage it took her to overcome her past to try a relationship with David.
Of course everything can't be roses so there is the inevitable hiccup to the budding relationship. While they both go a little crazy in response, they do get back on track and have a stronger relationship because of it. I was very happy with the end of the story.
What J9 Didn’t Like:
J9: This was a perfect romance novella except the very end when it hit a slight bump for me but even that was small. Thea is very skeptical of David’s ability to remain faithful and as readers knows THIS will be put to the test. Sigh. But still, how Thea handled her confrontation with David righted the romance and novella for me so I could just roll my eyes at the clichéd nature of the fidelity issue.
Overall Impressions:
J9: Readers looking for a quick, sexy and fun romance should absolutely buy Rock Courtship.
J9’s Rating:
Babs: Rock Courtship was a fabulous read. It lived up to any expectations I had of Thea and David’s romance from Rock Addiction. I highly recommend this to fans of Rock Addiction. And thank you Nalini Singh and company for putting this one out less than one month after Rock Addiction! I look forward to the next books in the series.
Babs Notes: If you like this series, you might also like the Brown Siblings series and The Hurley Boys series from Lauren Dane. Those are two great series. The Hurley Boys is about a rock band and a couple of the Brown Siblings books feature rock stars.
