A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk…Reviewed By: Babs
Molly Webster has always followed the rules. After an ugly scandal tore apart her childhood and made her the focus of the media’s harsh spotlight, she vowed to live an ordinary life. No fame. No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin, and a touch that could become an addiction.A one-night stand with the hottest rock star on the planet, that’s all it was meant to be…
Fox promises scorching heat and dangerous pleasure, coaxing Molly to extend their one-night stand into a one-month fling. After that, he’ll be gone forever, his life never again intersecting with her own. Sex and sin and sensual indulgence, all with an expiration date. No ties, no regrets. Too late, Molly realizes it isn’t only her body that’s become addicted to Fox, but her heart…
In a Nutshell: This is an awesome new contemporary romance from Nalini Singh. Fans of Psy-Changeling and Guild Hunter series or contemporary romance won’t be disappointed.
Why I Read This Book: I’m a huge fan of Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling and Guild Hunter series. I am excited about this new series.
What I Liked: I really enjoyed the instant connection between Fox and Molly. The sexual chemistry is off the charts. I was expecting sparks to come off the page! The emotional connection also resonated with me.
I am very happy with how the relationship progressed. They had bumps to work through—both have difficult pasts. And they experienced new things together that come with being in a relationship—not just the hot sexy times. I felt shades of Psy-Changeling and Guild Hunter series with how protective Fox was of Molly—like the heroes in those series. And how Molly stuck to her plan of making her own way—I definitely found that similar to the heroines of the other series.
I think the story moved quickly. I would be reading for what seemed like a short amount of time and then all the sudden I see I’ve read 10 or 15 percent more! I liked the fast pace of the story and of the relationship. That Fox and Molly committed to each other so quickly seems very Rock and Roll to me—perfect for their story.
I’m excited about more books in the series—Molly’s and Fox’s friends getting their own happily-ever-afters. I don’t know who I’m more excited to read about—the other band members, Charlotte, or Thea. The next story is titled Rock Courtship and features one of the couples hinted at in this book.
What I Didn’t Like: I am a little disappointed Fox didn’t make a certain declaration during the story. I think I’ve become accustomed to the hero and/or heroine unrealistically getting past all their issues in one story and everything going smoothly after that. There are reasons Fox doesn’t make his declaration but I was still hoping for some emotional breakthrough or epiphany up to the very end. The happily-ever-after is still there and kind of makes up for it.
Overall Impression: This is a definite departure from the worlds of the Psy-Changeling and Guild Hunter series I’m such a fan of. This story is just as enjoyable. I will wait on pins and needles for the next book. I highly recommend this book to contemporary romance fans. I think fans of Psy-Changeling and Guild Hunter series will also like this story if they like the alpha males and strong heroines of those series—and the resulting clash of wills.
