For centuries, Lisette d'Alençon has been a warrior against the dark. She fights alongside her brothers and comrades. But when the dreams start coming, she can't bear to confess them to the Immortal Guardians' command. Dreams of a dark-haired man with soft eyes and brutal wounds, a man her heart aches for--and a man she knows has been declared a traitor.

Zach is an exile, a loner. He won't defend himself against false accusations or grovel to those who should have faith in him. But he'll damn sure defend the woman who kept him sane against a plague of super-vamps that seems to have appeared from nowhere. The Guardians will blame him, and that will make Lisette suspect, too. With life, death and eternity on the line, who can they really trust?

In a Nutshell: Paranormal romance doesn’t get better than this.

The Set Up: Lisette is an Immortal Guardians fighting to keep humans safe from evil vampires. She dreams of a man her boss hates but Lisette is drawn to the mysterious loner Zach. Zach knows he shouldn’t get involved with the Immortal Guardian Lisette but she makes him feel for the first time in his life. With a new super-vampire hoard attempting to wipe out Lisette and the Immortal Guardians, Zach is pushed into close contact with Lisette and they can’t risk losing each other.

Why I Read This Book: I adore this series, seriously, people, ADORE.

What I Liked: Can I just say everything and have this review be done? Just (sorta) kidding. The relationship between Lisette and Zach is just what I love: passionate, mature, emotional and compelling. They don’t cause drama for drama’s sake or hide who they are from each other; instead Lisette and Zach talk to each other and become emotionally intimate along with sexually. I don’t want to spoil this book but I really, really love that the author turned the sexual stereotypes here—delicious!

What I Also Liked: I absolutely adore the secondary characters and the interpersonal relationships between the Immortal Guardians. If you haven’t read the other books you should to full appreciate what’s happening in this book (and don’t worry, they’re all excellent.) In this book we get some resolution with Ami’s pregnancy that was perfect, as well as some more history on the Immortal Guardian leader Seth. The Immortal Guardians are a community of people who care and support each other. I loved every time they all get together at David’s house and have big grown-up sleepovers to support each other in hard times.

The plot of the super-vamps is interesting and had some mystery to it. I liked the red herring as it introduces more Immortal Guardians which is always a GREAT thing for this addict.

What I Beg Of the Author: Please, please, please make an Immortal Guardian have a gay relationship! I know this is my love of MM romance sneaking in and that having an MM in a hetero-romance series is en vogue these days. BUT DO IT ANYWAY! Not all of these men can be heterosexual and the loving, accepting community of the Immortal Guardians is begging for a homosexual relationship. DO IT!

IMO: Night Unbound is another stellar romance in an outstanding paranormal series.
