He rules in the ring

Two years ago, Jake and Amanda were going hot and heavy. But when Jake wanted more, Amanda walked away. Jake immersed himself in mixed martial arts, living life on the edge. But that didn't dull the pain of Amanda's rejection-until a chance encounter throws them together.

A high-powered lawyer, Amanda was a no-strings-attached kind of girl. But two years after her breakup with Jake, she still hasn't found anyone who gets her heart pumping the way he did. And then he shows up in her boardroom, hot as sin and needing help...

But can he rule her heart?

Jake is darker, sexier, and impossible to resist. As their chemistry builds, Amanda's not sure if she can stay in control, or if she's finally willing to let him claim her body and soul.

Why I Read this Book: Amanda and Jake made an appearance in Against the Ropes (my review), the first book in this series. With the way things left off with this couple, I had to know what happens next.

What I Liked: Things between Jake and Amanda ended in a messy breakup in the previous book. Fast forward two years later, when they unknowingly end up in the same room with one another. Awkward! And I love awkward.

What I liked about Jake is that he knows what he wants but he doesn't push Amanda. Amanda has her flaws but Jake only cares about the here and now, not her past.

The case against Amanda’s former boss was interesting to watch unfold. She didn't cower or back down. She stuck with her principles. I didn’t know if she was going to come out winning or losing but I was rooting for her the entire time.

Ray the P.I. was a great character and I loved Penny too. Both are loyal and caring people. I look forward to reading their stories.

In Your Corner was better than its predecessor. This book was more polished, the storyline was tighter, and things added up coherently.

Memorable Moment:

”If I wasn’t in control, you would be naked, on all fours, in the middle of the cage, and I’d be fucking you so hard you wouldn’t remember your name.”

Overall Impression: Against the Ropes was a good read but I enjoyed reading In Your Corner even more. Readers should definitely read book one first, as that’s where Jake and Amanda’s intense relationship started, and came tumbling apart. And you’ll want to read all about how it went down.
