Liam “Hunter” Blake hates the Reapers MC. Born and raised a Devil’s Jack, he knows his duty. He’ll defend his club from their oldest enemies—the Reapers—using whatever weapons he can find. But why use force when the Reapers’ president has a daughter who’s alone and vulnerable? Hunter has wanted her from the minute he saw her, and now he has an excuse to take her.

Em has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Reapers. Her overprotective father, Picnic, is the club’s president. The last time she had a boyfriend, Picnic shot him. Now the men in her life are far more interested in keeping her daddy happy than showing her a good time. Then she meets a handsome stranger—a man who isn't afraid to treat her like a real woman. One who isn't afraid of her father. His name is Liam, and he’s The One.

Or so she thinks.

Why I Read this Book: After what went down in Reaper’s Legacy, I have been DYING to read this book. Especially when I learned it was Em and Liam’s book.

What I Liked: I’m usually not one for recapping but I love that we get the event’s from the last book from Liam’s POV in Devil’s Game. It was a great replay of what went down, this time with Liam’s reactions and thoughts.

There was some great intensity in Devil’s Game. The conflict between the two MCs, and Emily’s connection to each, was a balancing act of sorts and very interesting to see play out. Being a MC president’s daughter, Emily knows how the MC world works. She doesn’t have any crazy expectations but she knows how to hold her own and get what she wants.

We also get to see how Liam came into the Reapers MC and it’s a good backstory. It gave Liam a tender, yet protective side.

There’s a scene in Devil’s Game involving Picnic and there’s a good indication of who his love interest will be. And I can’t wait for his book, which is next. Finally!

What I Didn’t Like: I like MC romances to be dark and gritty and this series is a bit on the tame side. These are some bad boys but they aren’t the worst of the worst. SOA set the stage for MCs for me so there’s some expectation, on my end, for more ruthless behavior. But I understand that this is foremost a romance novel so it’s not a major dislike.

Memorable Moment:

”Last night was a game changer, so far as I’m concerned. I gave you your space, let you go. But you came back, so now you’re fair game. I’m done being the nice guy.”

Overall Impression: Not as gritty and raw as some other MC romances I’ve read but it still had its intense moments. And it definitely qualifies as book crack, seeing how I read this in 24 hours.

  1. I haven't heard of this series (I don't think), but it sounds really good! I really like books that go back and fill in details about characters and how they got to a certain point. Thanks for sharing I'll have to check out the others, seeing as I do like dark and gritty. Great review!

  2. I like mine a bit grittier too. I thought this one did a better job of it than book 2 though. That one for me was SO dang mainstream. Not a bad thing just not what I usually go for, ya know? That was a great quote :D
