At a friend’s wedding reception, Sean can’t resist the allure of the chief bridesmaid—Kate, the woman he loved and lost three years earlier. Risking his heart once again, he makes the most of the opportunity to remind her of what had once existed between them.Reviewed By: BabsKate had loved the Royal Navy officer with all her heart. However, family circumstances had left her no other choice but to drive Sean away. Now her life is very different. When Sean, no longer serving his country, enters her life once more, she can’t turn him away—even though the bitter memory of the breakup that she instigated still stands between them.
When Sean suggests they go away to Scotland for a few days, he’s surprised by Kate’s ready agreement. In the remote cottage their love is rekindled, but it takes a blizzard to erase the past and allow them to start finding out who they really are—together.
Inside Scoop: Includes hints of a blossoming BDSM relationship.
Why I Read This Book: I like reunited lovers’ stories.
In a Nutshell: I really enjoyed this story. It has a well-developed backstory and a believable progression of the relationship even in a short period of time. A well-written love story.
The Set Up: Former lovers Kate and Sean reunite at a wedding and decide to try again.
What I Liked: This story was incredibly romantic to me. Kate and Sean have waited for each other. They just want to take care of each other. Kate wasn’t able to let her barriers down when they were together before and had to leave to figure out how to open up to Sean.
A first for me that I enjoyed is that the heroine was the one discovering her sexually dominant tendencies. And Sean was also finding out he liked to to be taken care of and had his own unexplored sexual fantasies. I thought this was a nice contrast to his everyday take-charge persona with his security expert job and military background. I’m not usually into full-on BDSM stories but I liked the little bit that was in this book.
I liked that Sean was hoping they would get back together at the wedding but didn’t push things. This was a nice change from most romance novels I read with pushy alpha males. I enjoy the alpha males too but a little variety is good!
This book isn’t part of a series but references characters in another Kirstie Abbot book, Master of Velvet.
What I Didn’t Like: I can’t come up with anything I didn’t like. Except I wanted more story!
Overall Impression: I really liked Sean and Kate’s story. It’s one that’s stuck with me. I’ve thought about it many times since I read it. A great read.
