Ten years after Blayne Thorpe first encountered Bo Novikov, she still can't get the smooth-talking shifter out of her head. Now he's shadowing her in New York-all seven-plus feet of him-determined to protect her from stalkers who want to use her in shifter dogfights. Even if he has to drag her off to an isolated Maine town where the only neighbors are other bears almost as crazy as he is...

Let sleeping dogs lie. Bo knows it's good advice, but he can't leave Blayne be. Blame it on her sweet sexiness -- or his hunch that there's more to this little wolfdog than meets the eye. Blayne has depths he hasn't yet begun to fathom -- much as he'd like to. She may insist Bo's nothing but a pain in her delectable behind, but polar bears have patience in spades. Soon she'll realize how good they can be together. And when she does, animal instinct tells him it'll be worth the wait...

Why I Read This Book: I’m a fan of the series and am trying to get caught up after getting behind.

In a Nutshell: I enjoyed the book. The Pride books don’t disappoint with the sexy times and with humor. This one is no exception.

The Set Up: Bo has been infatuated with Blayne for years and finally makes his move.

What I Liked: I finally have Blayne’s story after she’s a major player in The Mane Squeeze (my review)! I liked the setup of the story—how Bo and Blayne originally connected and then it takes them 10 years to finally meet up and create a relationship. I enjoyed their journey to get together and the build up to finally being in a relationship.

I was entertained by their courtship. They are opposites in some important ways yet compliment each other just enough to take the edges off. And Blayne’s attempts to mess with DeeAnn were awesome!

I’m a sucker for series because of the connected stories and characters so the return of other characters from the Pride series is great. There’s been an overarching plot in the books about a criminal ring and I like that we finally get some resolution to that in this book.

This book opens up many more options for additional stories. I see potential in DeeAnn’s new crew. And meeting the bears of Bo’s hometown opens up so many more potential stories. I liked getting to know his uncle and more of their story.

And I thought Blayne’s dad was a hoot and I liked learning about their father-daughter relationship. Along with some of the handy skills he taught her!

What I Didn’t Like: Blayne was a little too cutesy with all the cantankerous townspeople loving her on sight and the Pied Piper routine with the strays.

Overall Impression: Blayne and Bo’s story was delightful—a great addition to the Pride series.

    1. I just checked and I'm four (!) books behind. I've read Big Bad Beast but didn't rate it very high compared to others so I'm going to try it again :) Thanks for commenting
