Staff Sergeant Travis Donovan is on the hunt for his little sister. Though he hasn’t spoken to her in years, his last deployment reminded him how short life is, and it’s time to reconnect. Only problem? The one piece of contact information he has, a cell phone number, belongs to someone else now. A woman named Ariel. A woman he can’t get his mind off.Ariel Winston doesn’t have time for a man. Her plate is full with work and grad school and family obligations, and she’s fine with that. But the innocent friendship she’s sparked with Trav, the anonymous texter, can’t hurt. Right? It’s not like she’ll ever meet the guy face to face.
But when these two collide during a night of voyeuristic pleasure, they have decisions to make. Will they balk at what fate has dropped into their laps? Or be willing to look beyond the unique circumstances and enjoy their finite time together?
Why I Read this Book: In this day and age of technology, it’s amazing how we can meet new people. The author took that concept and created a fun romance story.
What I Liked: Text Me had a very interesting premise and it was executed quite well. It was a bit predictable and coincidental in some aspects but still an enjoyable read. The main thing is I wanted to find out how things would work out between Travis and Ariel.
The secondary characters were as much part of the story as the lead were that I want more of their stories as well. And there was a bit of voyeurism and exhibitionism going on with all of them. Made for sexy times, for sure.
What I Didn’t Like: The storyline regarding the missing sister was left completely unresolved. Even more troubling is the fact that the next book in this series in not available for purchase anywhere, and the next book seems to involve Sarah. I contacted the author and she informed me that the contract with the publisher was up and that she is reformatting the books and getting new covers so she can self-publish them. There’s no word on when the books will be back up for sale, as the author has some deadlines to meet for books she writes under another pseudonym.
Overall Impression: Text Me was a fun, quick read but I am disappointed that the story arc surrounding the missing sister was unresolved. I also really want Pete’s story and to find out if Mary Ellen and Brice finally get together. I can only hope that the author gets books 2 and 3 up for sale soon.
Brianna’s Rating:
Sounds like a fun and original read, but the missing sister issue not being addressed would bother me too. Hopefully the author will be able to self-pub the next book soon!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so but I have a feeling it'll be a while before the 2nd and 3rd books are available for sale again :/
