Candace, a newcomer to writing erotica, is thrilled when Charlie, a veteran of the industry, agrees to be her mentor. But neither of them ever expected that Charlie's lessons on new positions, using toys, varying locations and role playing would spiral from verbal instruction into hot, hands on education. Unfortunately, Candace's deception about the new erotic romance she's writing--where Charlie plays the starring role--is about to threaten their one chance at true love.

Why I Read this Book: I thought a romance between two erotica authors sounded interesting. The research!

What I Liked: The two main characters in this story are both erotica authors. Charlie is a well established author, and Candace is a newcomer. Charlie becomes Candace’s mentor and that is when the fun begins. There were some sexy times between these two! It was also interesting to read each character’s own work in progress and see the parallels between the manuscripts and Charlie and Candace’s own blooming romance.

What I Didn’t Like: There are some words that don’t belong anywhere near a sex scene, like the word ‘newborn’. As he stared at her chest in continued amazement, her nipples grew hard and pronounced, and it was all he could do not to rip the thin fabric off of her body and suck at her nipples like a hungry newborn. Just, no. NO, NO, NO. That totally pulled me out of the story and left a sour taste in my mouth.

Ecstasy was an insta-love romance. ‘In love’ in less than two weeks. One of my least favorite tropes.

Memorable Moment:

She looked up and saw Charlie watching her carefully and she gave him a little grin. He reached into his right pocket and suddenly, she felt tingles, pulses between her legs. She stopped dead in her tracks, propped herself up against the wall with her left hand and closed her eyes, trying to determine what had just happened to her. She felt as if she had just sat down on a vibrator!

Overall Impression: Ecstasy was a sexy, fun read but I am coming to find out that this author favors an insta-love trope.

  1. Yeah, I don't know that many women find breastfeeding *sexy* .... wow.

I've read another one of her books and know she's hugely popular, so I guess that line was just a misfire. A weird one! Fun premise.

    1. I've read a few of her books and I don't recall any of the others having a weird line like the one this book had. Overall, I enjoy this author's story telling. I only wish her books didn't have an insta-love trope. (All of the books I've read by this author had an insta-love romance.)
