In a Nutshell: This may be my favorite of the series since the romance is wanted by both leads and the tension is in the plot of how they’ll be together. This isn’t to say it’s an a-maz-ing romance, but best in the series.

The Set Up: Eve helped the cyborgs escape Earth before humans could terminate them. One of her final rescues was Blackie and they’ve never forgotten each other. But Eve and Blackie are separated for decades and Eve’s return to the cyborg world could change their world forever, prompting attempts on her life that Blackie must protect her from.

Why I Read this Book: I’ve passively enjoyed this series and pick up the next if I happen to see it.

What I Liked: Unlike the others in the series where the women fight their cyborg mates, Eve craves mating with Blackie from the novel’s beginning. This sets up a much different dynamic than others in the series and one I liked. Sure, it’s insta-love but it’s an accepting kind of love that I enjoyed. The sexual chemistry is good between Blackie and Eve as is their growing emotional dependence on each other.

What I Also Liked: I like series in general because they offer world building and that’s what I get here. The cyborgs were created by humans but when they became too humanoid they were slated for termination. How the cyborgs escape and Eve’s role in their escape is a good part of this book and one the series needed. The tension in the book is keeping Eve alive long enough to testify about her role in the cyborgs’ freedom. I liked this as it wasn’t overdrawn but paced well and ended perfectly.

I also love when romances have plenty of hot men in the world so they can become future leads in the series. This author has created a world full of hot and fairly innocent men just waiting to tear women’s clothes off and that’s a very good thing in my smutty mind.

What I Didn’t Like: This isn’t a deep romance or particularly angsty but just a fun, light, erotic read.

IMO: Haunting Blackie was my favorite of the series and will have me passively looking for the next book in the series.
