WELCOME TO THE CLUB

Eight years ago, Sophie gave her heart—and her virginity—to Zach Barrett on a night that couldn’t have been less romantic or more embarrassing. Zach’s step-brother, a steely-muscled, tattooed biker named Ruger, caught them in the act, getting a peep show of Sophie he’s never forgotten.

She may have lost her dignity that fateful night, but Sophie also gained something precious—her son Noah. Unfortunately, Zach’s a deadbeat dad, leaving Ruger to be Noah’s only male role model. When he discovers Sophie and his nephew living in near poverty, Ruger takes matters into his own hands—with the help of the Reapers Motorcycle Club—to give them a better life.

Living with outlaw bikers wasn’t Sophie’s plan for her son, but Ruger isn’t giving her a choice. He’ll be there for Noah, whether she wants him or not. But Sophie does want him, has always wanted him. Now she’ll learn that taking a biker to bed can get a girl dirty in every way…

Why I Read this Book: I read the first book in this series, Reaper’s Property (my joint review with J9), last year and have been anxiously awaiting this book ever since.

What I Liked: Ruger’s pierced peen. Need I say more? Okay, he’s also got a lip ring, his tongue pierced, and his nipple pierced. RAWR!

I love this MC world. It feels authentic, gritty, and yet there’s a love story here. It was a good mix between club business and the romance. And when the two of those elements combined, it worked. Even though Sophie has strong feelings for Ruger, she has good reason to not want to get involved with him. He’s a Reaper and with that comes danger.

Oh, the tension and angst! I love a good angsty romance filled with tension. Sophie and Ruger have been pining after one another for so long but haven’t openly expressed their feelings. They just keep it all bottled up because they think a relationship between them won’t work. It made for good reading material.

This was the perfect example of a kid’s presence that didn’t bother me in the slightest. Noah was the cutest kid. His character was an important element to the storyline, yet, he wasn’t used to drive the plot or the romance. Ruger has considered Noah to be his son ever since he was born and that melted my heart.

It was nice to see Marie and Horse in this book. I enjoy catching up with previous characters, to see where they are in their lives. There were also some other secondary characters that were fun to read, like Em, Maggs, and Kimber. I absolutely loved Kimber.

I love that we got a prologue that explained how everything went down when Sophie was pregnant. And an epilogue to see where, and how, things ended up for Sophie and Ruger.

Memorable Moment:

“I want to own every part of you. I want to throw you face-first across this counter, ripe off those shorts and fuck you hard and fast until my goddamn cock stops hurting and my ball don’t feel like they’re gonna explode. Because they’ve felt that way for a helluva long time, Soph, and I’m startin’ to think it’s not gonna go away unless I do something about it.”

Overall Impression: Just like with the first book in this series, I read Reaper’s Legacy in 24 hours. That, my friends, is book crack. I just did not want to put this book down. This was just the fix I was looking for to fill the void of SOA being on hiatus. I feel like I’ve been waiting forever for this book to come out yet it’s only been a year since the the last book. Thankfully book three comes out this June but I want it NOW. And!! It’s Em’s book!!
