Two seasoned operatives finally meet their match: each other.
Cillian works for the mysterious Special Branch 20: an organization that runs black ops commissioned by the British government. His specialty is deep undercover assignments with virtually no support. He’s been alone for so long that he no longer knows anything else.
Mal’s also used to being alone. Wanted in several states and even more countries, he’s not allowed in the vicinity of any of his former Navy SEAL teammates. And his current assignment is to track Cillian in order to discover the spook’s endgame. Except he’s no longer sure which one of them is getting played.
Cillian isn’t about to let the mission that’s consumed him for the past several years crumble because an outsider is poking around where he doesn’t belong. But Mal forces his way through Cillian’s defenses—and into his heart—exposing a devastating betrayal that could destroy them both.

In a Nutshell: This is a raw and intense MM romance but readers should know this is going to be a serialized romance so be prepared for the huge cliffhanger!
The Set Up: Cillian is deep undercover leveraging his contacts for the whereabouts of his arch enemy. He’s not above playing with men in clubs but his life has no room for emotional relationships. Mal is searching for the same rogue agent as Cillian and he starts stalking Cillian to follow the trail. Cillian and Mal both have secrets they keep from each other and even themselves but one past betrayal could destroy their relationship before it even starts.
Why I Read this Book: I loooooved the Hell or High Water series that this Dirty Deeds series is based on so HAD to read it.
What I Liked: This novella packs an emotional and sexual punch. Mal and Cillian are very raw characters with secrets galore. They’re hard men who don’t understand why they share what they do with each other and I’m just as fascinated by their pasts and characters as they are with each other. The sexual intensity is only matched by their emotional connection and their IM conversations are just as intense as when they’re in a club together.
What I Also Liked: I also loved the plot of both Cillian and Mal searching for a terrorist they both have a past with. How this unfolds shows a lot of who these two men are and it’s full of twists, turns and intrigue. Readers will have to pay close attention to the plot because it’s interwoven into Mal and Cillian’s developing relationship and none of it should be missed.
What I Didn’t Like: I’m not normally a fan of the serialization of romances but I so love these characters and their intense, playful and erotic relationship that I’m going to resign myself to reading it in novellas instead of the novel that I’d prefer.
The following may be considered a SPOILER so click the button and proceed reading at YOUR OWN RISK. And don't say I didn't warn you ;)
IMO: Fans of this author like me won’t need me to tell them to read this novella and series. Newcomers should just resign themselves to reading a stellar serialized MM romance.
J9’s Rating:
I liked this one, 4.5 stars from me, a little short though for my taste... I've read Hell or High Water and loved it (cant wait for book 3 - Daylight Again).
