Why I Read this Book: Around the holidays, I am on the lookout for holiday romances to read. And Under Holly’s Stockings sounded like a cute story.

What I Liked: There were some hilarious moments. Like when there were cookies in the oven.

"Do you smell something burning?"

His hand clapped over the back of hers and guided it down his shaft toward where his balls were. “It’s me,” he declared. “My cock is on fire.”

“The cookies!”

Michael was kind and patient. Man, was he patient! And his gesture at the end of the story was sweet.

What I Didn’t Like: Holly was a bit of a tease. She’s the one who propositioned Michael for sex yet when he comes over to her place, she stalls. Repeatedly. I don’t read solely for the sex scenes but when the female lead plays the part of a cock tease, it gets to be annoying. She was totally up and down, back and forth. If you tell someone one thing and don’t deliver, you lose credibility.

What man in his right mind would allow his penis to be wrapped up with Christmas tree lights? Plugged in and turned on. First of all, I don’t think a man would allow any type of electrical item near his manhood. Second, Christmas tree lights contain lead. The box tells you to wash your hands after touching them. Did he wash his cock before having intercourse with Holly? No. So he possibly got lead contamination on his penis and Holly possibly got lead contamination on her va-jay-jay. I’m the type of reader that thinks of the practicality of situations like this. Michael should have left at that point. I would have.

There’s a back story but it felt like an excuse for Holly’s being distracted. I don’t know if it was this distraction or if Holly was a little ditzy but she thought she could whip up a turkey dinner, with a frozen bird, in an hour.

Overall Impression: Under Holly’s Stockings was funny at times but Holly proved to be an annoying character.
