She's got three rules:

1. Trust no one… Eve Edens has been abandoned, used, or manipulated by almost everyone she's ever met. Born into ridiculous wealth, she's dealt with the petty jealousies and sordid little resentments for nearly thirty years. But after three botched attempts on her life, she can no longer ignore the truth. Someone wants her dead.

2. Avoid the bad boys at all costs… William "Wild Bill" Reichert, the wonderfully sexy boy who abandoned her years ago, is back in town. Only he's no boy. Now he's a covert operative - and he's all man. When Eve hires Bill to help her discover who is behind the attacks, Bill soon comes to suspect it's someone much closer to Eve than she dares to believe.

3. And never fall for the same ruse twice… The search for the killer takes Bill and Eve deep into the dark secrets and strange world of the rich and famous, and into the heart of red-hot passion re-ignited by the peril that threatens to consume them both. But does Eve dare risk her heart on Bill a second time?

Why I Read this Book: Born Wild is THE book I’ve been waiting for. Bits and pieces of Eve and Bill’s backstory have been mentioned here and there in previous books but I’ve been waiting to find out their entire story. There’s tension and angst settling between the two and I wanted to find out the root of it all. And I did.

What I Liked: There’s still chemistry between Bill and Eve, even after all the years that have passed since they were a couple. It was evident in previous books and it’s clear in Born Wild. There’s good reason for the tension, very good reason. Things weren’t quickly patched up, yet, it didn’t take forever and a day for them to straighten things out either.

Delilah is fierce! She has an eye for Mac and she isn’t afraid to let him, and everyone else, know. She comes on strong and lays it thick. Like when Mac walks into her bar and she says “Somebody slide me a glass, will ya? Because I just spied me a tall drink of water!I like how the author sets up another romance yet doesn’t complete it. There’s enough there to establish a foundation, with its faults, that makes me excited for the next book in the series. As long as the author doesn’t make me wait too long for their book. And I love how Delilah isn’t fooled by the bike shop façade. She knows something else is going on behind those walls.

What I Didn’t Like: I kept going back and forth on who I thought the villain was. (I’m always trying to figure out who the bad guy is.) In Born Wild, I felt like I was being taken on a bit of a wild goose chase, trying to figure out who was behind everything. Particularly when a specific item was mentioned, an item that had been mentioned only once before (thank goodness for the search function on ebooks!), which I thought was linked to the villain but turned out to be incorrect.

Memorable Moment:

“And lest you think I’m bluffing, let me first inform you that I did two tours in Iraq and three in Afghanistan. I killed and maimed my enemies, and I did it all with a song in my heart. So, rest assured, I have no problem pulling this trigger and turning your greasy head into nothing more than spatter patterns.”

Overall Impression: Born Wild gave me what I’ve been waiting for - Bill and Eve’s story – but I was more into the romance part of the story than I was the suspense element. I did like the setup for a romance between Delilah and Mac. I just hope I don’t have to wait too long for their book.
