Thursday Thirteen: Why I Read

Thursday Thirteen

Thursday Thirteen is a weekly meme with a simple theme: each Thursday you blog a list of 13 things. What kind of things? Any kind! Just come up with a list theme and run with it.

Brianna’s List:

  1. To escape the monotony of my life.
  2. To experience things I would never get to experience in real life. Like the MC life.
  3. To learn about different places. It doesn’t replace traveling but since I HATE to fly, it’s a good substitution.
  4. To experience someone doing something that would never happen to me. Like dating a werewolf.
  5. To appease my appetite to learn. I love learning.
  6. To shake up my emotions. Sometimes I want feel something, or feel something different, and reading it a great way to achieve that.
  7. I can forget about the dreadful things in life, like chores and bills.
  8. It’s a not-too-expensive form of entertainment.
  9. I can be somebody else for a short period of time. And if things get crazy, I can close the book (or turn off my ereader) and return to my own regularly scheduled life.
  10. To shake things up. A good romantic suspense will give me the adventure I crave.
  11. Because sometimes I need a good laugh or a good cry.
  12. Because in romance novels, the un-get-able guys fall in love with the average girls all the time.
  13. And lastly, because reading romance is like cheating, without the real life consequences.

J9’s List:

  1. To relax.
  2. To avoid housework/laundry/cooking/paying job.
  3. Because I love to imagine new worlds.
  4. Because character development is so emotionally rewarding.
  5. Because villains get theirs in books.
  6. Chances aren't likely the world is going to end and I'll survive with only hotties around.
  7. Doubtful I'll get to Regency England anytime soon.
  8. In real life I'm not attracted to men who wear cowboy boots or rodeo buckles.
  9. Because I've never had a ladies maid and cannot blush on command.
  10. Because in real life hot firefighters don't make out where I can see them.
  11. Billionaires don't grow on trees.
  12. Book children never interrupt sexy times.
  13. No one has to pay bills in romance novel.

  1. I think my blog tag line sums up the reason I read... Rejecting Reality One Book at a Time.

I read because books is more full than reality. LOL And because the books I read have WAY more smut than my real life.

    1. I like that one too. I almost added it to my list but didn't want to be redundant :)
