Actor Ethan Baker was voted the "Sexiest Man Alive" two times, but that doesn't stop his girlfriend from breaking up with him. As he has for years, Ethan turns to Jude Harrison, his best friend and the one "forever" person in his life. What should have been a short trip to reach Jude turns into an unexpectedly long journey when a mysterious woman forces Ethan to visit places in time he'd long forgotten. Suddenly Ethan sees Jude's actions over the years from a different perspective, but it's his own reaction that's the biggest surprise

This short novella had a lovely premise with self-absorbed Ethan being shown by a mysterious angel important times in his life where his best friend Jude supported him. Ethan isn’t the most compelling character because of his twenty years of obliviousness but lovely Jude with his quiet and unassuming support of Ethan stole the novella for me. Ethan’s final acceptance of what Jude and he could be to each other makes this sweet and sexy novella enjoyable.

Maccabe Fried and Josh Segal have nothing in common, but they’ve been friends forever. Maccabe is an athlete with dreams of playing professional baseball. Josh is a good student with dreams of being with Maccabe. Then both dreams come true.
Maccabe and Josh fall into a passionate long-distance romance, and after years of hiding from the world, Josh wants to bring their relationship into the open. When Maccabe refuses, Josh is faced with a tough decision: stay with the man he loves or live the life he deserves. Somebody's bound to get hurt, but in the season of miracles, there's always hope for a happy ending.

I liked the premise of this novella with two childhood friends who become more to each other. I liked the time lapse in this book as Maccabe and Josh first kiss, have two years of college together and then separate for seven years. Their two quirky families and the Jewish holiday of Chanukah provide lovely backdrops for this story.
But…I disliked Maccabe. I thought he was arrogant and selfish, both when the boys were young and then later when he storms back into Josh’s life. I think some readers may like his gay-for-you possessiveness toward Josh but I thought it was arrogant and off-putting. In both big emotional denouements with Josh Maacabe makes the decisions for both men and just steamrolls Josh, in my opinion.
This isn’t my favorite novella by this author even if I did like the quirky family and lovely holiday setting.
