My Bookish Wants & Gots (31)

My Bookish Wants & Gots is a monthly feature that will post on the first Saturday of the month. I list the books I want - which can be old, new, or upcoming releases - and the books I recently got. My Bookish Wants & Gots was inspired by Book Chick City’s On My Wishlist and the Mailbox Monday meme.

Pick Your Pleasure 2 by Jayne RylonPick Your Pleasure 2 by Jayne Rylon

Ever read a book and wish the heroine hadn’t done that or gone there or slept with that guy? Well, now you’re in charge. The reader decides what happens here.

Tailor your perfect short story or be adventurous and read through all the different paths to see where life can take you…if you choose.

Go ahead, pick your pleasure.

Henry Emerson has spent a decade hiding his identity. In the light of day he’s a protector, head of security for a close friend. At night, he’s the owner of an elite sex club, Underground.

But when he meets Brooklyn, who bridges both existences—socialite and subterranean wildcat—he begins to wonder if it’s possible to find everything he needs in one woman.

Where will they forge their bond? In the light of day or the dark of night? It’s up to you.

I’ve read the first Pick Your Pleasure book (my review) and I have questions about Henry’s character. So I’ll definitely be reading this one.

Stripped by Jasinda WilderStripped by Jasinda Wilder

So how did I get myself into this situation, you ask? Simple: desperation. When you're faced with being homeless and hungry or taking off your clothes for money, the choice is easier than you'd imagine. That doesn't make it easy, though. Oh no. I hate it, in fact. There's nothing I'd like more than to quit and never go into another bar again, never hear the techno beat pulsing in my ears again, never feel the lecherous gazes of horny men again.

Then, one day, I meet a man. He's in my club, front and center. He watches me do my routine, and his gaze is full of hunger. Not the kind of desire I'm used to though. It's something different. Something hotter, deeper, and more possessive. I know who he is; of course I do. Everyone knows who Dawson Kellor is. He's People Magazine's Sexiest Man alive. He's the hottest actor in Hollywood. He's the man hand-picked for the role of Rhett Butler in the long-awaited remake of Gone With the Wind.

He's the kind of man who can have any woman in the entire world with a mere crook of his finger. So what's he doing looking at me like he has to have me? And how do I resist him when he looks at me with those intoxicating, changeable, quicksilver eyes?

I'm a virgin, and he's an American icon of male sexuality. I'm a stripper, and he's a man used to getting anything and everything he wants. And he wants me. I know I should say no, I know he's the worst kind of player…but what my mind knows, my body and my heart may not.

And then things get complicated.

I normally wouldn't read a book with a virgin female lead but the celeb/commoner trope has piqued my curiosity and interest.

Out of Line by Jen McLaughlinOut of Line by Jen McLaughlin

Desperate to break free…

I've spent my entire life under my father’s thumb, but now I'm finally free to make my own choices. When my roommate dragged me to my first college party, I met Finn Coram and my life turned inside out. He knows how to break the rules and is everything I never knew I wanted. A Marine by day and surfer by night, he pushes me away even as our attraction brings us closer. Now I am finally free to do whatever I want. I know what I want. I choose Finn.

Trying to play by the rules...

I always follow orders. My job, my life, depends on it. I thought this job would be easy, all the rules were made crystal clear, but when I met Carrie Wallington, everything got muddy. She's a rule I know I shouldn't break, but damn if I don’t inch closer to the breaking point each time I see her. I’m ready to step out of line. And even worse? I’m living a lie. They say the truth will set you free, but in my case…

The truth will cost me everything.

I’ve seen readers recommend this one because it’s emotional charged. I believe (if I remember correctly) that it’s more of a HFN, rather than a HEA, but I’m still curious enough to read it.

I’m currently reading this one right now. It’s not as gripping as The Coincidence of Callie & Kayden. And I just noticed that book 3 is Luke and Violet’s book but book 4 shifts back to Callie and Kayden. What did I get myself into??

This is one of the most recommended M/M Romance books of all time. Samantha first recommended it to me and J9’s been wanting me to read it. It was recently a Kindle freebie so I grabbed it.

I’ve already read this one. It was a good read – 3 frogs. Second half wasn’t as strong as the first half. I may review here, if time permits.

Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain #2) by Kristen AshleySweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain #2) by Kristen Ashley

Lauren Grahame has spent her whole life thinking something special was going to happen. She didn’t know what it was, she just knew it would one day be hers. But she learned the hard way that special wasn’t on offer.

So, after divorcing her cheating husband, Lauren searched for nothing special and she thought she found it when she landed a job as a waitress in a biker bar in Carnal. It was perfect: a nothing job in a nowhere bar in Nowheresville.

Then Tatum Jackson walked in. Part-owner of the bar, he took one look at high-class Lauren and wanted nothing to do with her. And he made this known, loudly.

Tate’s angry insults seared in her brain, Lauren decides the feeling is mutual and she doesn’t want anything to do with the gloriously handsome Tate Jackson. The clash of the bartender and barmaid begins but, even though Tate makes his change of mind clear (in biker-speak, a language Lauren is not fluent in), Lauren is intent on going her own way.

Until a serial killer hits Carnal and Lauren finds out Tate isn’t a bartender, he’s a bounty hunter. He stakes his claim for Lauren before he goes on the hunt for a killer but Laurie doesn’t speak biker nor does she understand bounty hunters and Tate comes back from the hunt to find his old lady has moved on.

Life throws curveball after curveball at Laurie and Tate. As secrets are revealed, women are brutally murdered, and Lauren tries to find her inner biker babe.

I won this from Book Binge (thank you!). It’s the 2nd book in the series, so hopefully I can start with this one.

  2. You can definitely start in with Sweet Dreams. It is only very loosely connected to the first one in that series, which is called The Gamble.
