I absolutely LOVE the Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep. Here are my Top Ten (spoiler-free) reasons why you should read this series, in no particular order:
- Gin. She’s a kickass heroine and takes shit from NO ONE. She’s unapologetic about being an assassin, though she does have her own moral code and set of ethics that she follows.
- The food. I get so damn hungry every time I read one of these Elemental Assassin books. And it’s really not fair that Gin has such a knack for cooking and baking, on top of her other, many talents.
- There’s romance. Hot, smut-filled romance. Not so much as to take away from the urban fantasy world but enough to satisfy my inner vixen.
- The hunt. As an assassin, part of Gin’s job is to hunt her prey and study them before going for the kill. I love the first hand account the reader gets, thanks in part that the books are told in first person narration from Gin’s point-of-view.
- Finn. Love this guy and you will too. He cracks me up with his debonair persona.
- The crew. Gin, Finn, the Deveraux sisters, and the Grayson siblings are a close knit group and I love the camaraderie between them.
- Fletcher. He has a strong presence, given the circumstances. I love reading the parts of Gin’s flashbacks that involve Fletcher. Smart man, right there. Smart man with many tricks up his sleeves.
- The world-building. It hooked me from book one. Hell, from the first page.
- The banter. Gin has a sharp tongue and has no problem speaking freely. Some of the quotes Ash and I used in our discussion posts are freaking awesome. And there are many more quotes that we didn’t use that are just as awesome. You’ll find great, witty dialogue in these books.
- Ingenious plotting. These books were not only well thought out with brilliant execution, but there is always something new and fresh with each new installment.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad the series caught your attention. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I have been :)
DeleteI haven't read her adult series but I love her YA series and my blogger friends cannot say enough about this series. Especially my friend Jenny at Supernatual Snark. I have to read some adult books to mix thing up. This would be the perfect series.
ReplyDeleteHeather
I haven't read her YA stuff yet, though I do have 1-2 of them on my Kindle that I need to read.
DeleteI have not read these books...So Thank you for the chance to win them.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the series yet, but what made me want to read it was the author, the strong lead, and talk of the food.
ReplyDeleteI love Gin and think you will too. And the food talk constantly makes me hungry. LOL
DeleteI haven't read the series yet. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the series yet but I love a strong female lead and I checked out your review to the first book and it looks like something I will enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of the series yet, but they remind me of Janet Evanovich and I love her fund and quirky books. So I think these will be a great addition to my library. Thanks for the awesome giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered about this series. Sounds interesting
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend this series. I can't recommend it enough :)
DeleteI've only read the first book in the series but I liked it a lot. My favorite part about it was that the author kept me wondering about the ways Gin could use her magic. I felt like she was in a constant state of discovery and she wasn't automatically amazing at everything--she was figuring it out and coming up with new things she could do.
ReplyDeleteThis is another aspect of the series that I liked - Gin doesn't just know and excel at everything from the start. She learns and adapts as she goes along. Great character development.
DeleteI haven't read any books in this series yet but I keep hearing such wonderful things about it. It is definitely on my never-ending to read list.
ReplyDeleteBump it up to the top of the list ;)
DeleteI just started the series on audio a few weeks ago and I'm loving it. I love everything about Gin and Finn and Bria, and how Fletcher is still such a presence throughout the books (I'm on Book 3 now). And I totally agree about the food - I am dying for a trip to The Pork Pit!
ReplyDeleteI'm not an audio book listener myself but I have heard that this is a really good series to listen to on audio. I hear that the narrator rocks. I <3 Fletcher.
DeleteI have heard so many great things about this series. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI have some of them to read. They look amazing and I cannot wait to get started.

DeleteLOL! I was so excited that I forgot to say why I wanted to read them! I like urban fantasy (used to not know what that was!) AND I love paranormals... Friends have recommended this series AND this author to me as they've told me that these books are right up my alley.. that's how the series got on my TBR list. Thanks again for the contest!
ReplyDeleteIve read the first two books in this series and loved them.Jennifer creates a world you feel a part of
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the series yet but I want to. It sounds really good and I love reading YA. Thanks for the awesome giveaway. Tore923@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI have not yet read any of this series, but think I would like to. IF I win, then of course I would read each and every one. I like books with female leads, and especially females that are strong &/or funny, or are unique in some way. An assassin - I'd say that's an unusual thing for a female to be.
ReplyDeleteThe assassin element is what initially drew me into the series.
DeleteI haven't read the series yet. I have heard good reviews plus the name of the series did catch my attention. Love the name of the series: Elemental Assassins. Makes me think of assassins as in ninjas and magic put into one character. Add the work spider into the title of each book, it makes me think of the Black Widow (as in Marvel Comic).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway.

I love the book titles too.
DeleteI haven't read them yet, but I have thought about it a few times. I'm a visual person, and I love the covers. They're very eye catching.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of the covers as well. I love when the new covers are revealed.
DeleteYou make me want to start this series asap! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJennifer Estep and her Elemental Assassin series is new to me and Jennifer sounds the same type of person as my "mentor" back in the 1960's when I was in college who helped me realize that we are all capable of being strong and independent women even if we do have a good man by our side - you'll notice by our side and not ahead or behind us!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to find out more about the whole series!
I have the first 2 books in this series. Looking forward to reading the rest!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any yet, but the fact there is a female kick ass heroin intrigues me. :)
ReplyDeleteI have not read any of these yet! I don't know exactly how it is that I've gone this long without reading any of them but I believe that I must remedy this quite soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat caught my interest at first was the covers. I will admit it, the covers are really eye-catching and hey are the types of covers that would make me want to find out more about a book right away.
I also really like series books, urban fantasy, and food! I do indeed love food and anything that has lots of mention of food is good for me (though I should probably read these with a well stocked fridge and the treadmill ready to go!).
Thank you for the chance to enter the giveaway!

ReplyDeleteI HEART GIN. I've read/listened to the first 5 in The Elemental Assassin Series, and I adore these books! It really doesn't get much better. A Kick ASS female heroine, yummy guys at every turn, a DERANGED villain and a mysterious and tragic past. Ohhh man I had to fan myself a bit.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this giveaway, it's fantastic!
I like the large ensemble cast of characters. It keeps the stories fresher and makes them richer instead of just focusing on the main character or couple.
ReplyDeleteI've read the all except the most recent (which just came in at the library today :D )They caught my attention because of the assassin profession, haven't read any like it before. I just keep coming back for more!

ReplyDeleteI haven't started the series yet because I just haven't had time, but my reader friends have recommended it to me because it's like a lot of the other series I read :)
ReplyDeleteLove this series, though I am a little behind *hides face in shame*. I love how real Gin is, and how kick ass she can be. Owen...oh Owen. Did I say I am behind, I have to catch up!!!
