Annalisa Webb is a photographer, determined to get the very best possible shots of the Olympic sculling team and make her boss proud. But she doesn’t bank on her clumsiness landing her in an Olympic sportsman’s lap—literally.Ex-Army Ranger Robert Buchanan is going for the gold—not for himself, but for his wounded comrades and those who’re still putting their lives on the line every day overseas. When curvaceous, quirky Annalisa loses her footing and nearly drowns them both, he wants her immediately.
But Robert knows that losing his heart might mean losing his medal. He has to prioritize success over sex. The only problem is that if he loses Annalisa, he doesn’t know whether he can count himself a winner at all.
A Romantica® contemporary erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave.
I read Stroke of Luck because it sounded like a cute, sweet read and it was. Plus, I like awkward first-time meetings, like the one described in the blurb.
Even though Stroke of Luck was a really quick read, there was a lot depth to Annalisa’s and Robert’s characters and there was enough to the story to keep me interested. I got a good feel for both characters by the background and stories that were interwoven into the plot. Both leads had a fiery passion for what they do. Also, they were likable characters and I liked them together.
My one gripe is that the progression of Annalisa and Robert’s relationship was a little too fast for me. The whole story takes place over the course of two months so the ending felt a bit rushed. Overall, Stroke of Luck was a quick, sweet, and enjoyable read but the relationship progressed too quickly for my liking.
