After having their faces plastered across the news during a high-profile case, FBI Special Agents Ty Grady and Zane Garrett have become more useful to the Bureau posing for photo ops than working undercover. Just as Zane is beginning to consider retirement a viable option, Ty receives a distress call from a friend, leading them to a city rife with echoes from the past.

New Orleans wears its history on its streets, and it’s the one place Ty’s face could get him killed. Surrounded by trouble as soon as they land, Ty and Zane are swiftly confronted with a past from which Ty can’t hide—one with a surprising connection to Zane’s.

As threats close in from all directions, both men must come to terms with the lives they’ve led and the lies they’ve told. They soon discover that not all their secrets are out yet, and nothing lasts forever.

In a Nutshell: Oh the delicious angst of Ty and Zane! I can’t believe Roux took the characters here but the emotional and sexual intensity caused by this was utterly captivating.

The Set Up: FBI Agents Ty and Zane are comfortable in their relationship and their jobs even though their ability to go undercover is blown after their last mission. When Ty receives a phone call from his friend in New Orleans saying he’s been arrested for murder, Ty and Zane fly to NOLA. Ty’s undercover work there means he has a price on his head but Zane will have his back. But in the city of New Orleans where secrets have a way of coming out, Ty and Zane’s lives will never be the same.

Why I Read this Book: TY AND ZANE!!!!!

What I Liked: This review is going to be vague because I don’t want to spoil a speck of the awesomeness for other readers. I will say secrets come out in Touch & Geaux and I didn’t expect them. They totally unhinge Zane and the emotional punching between Ty and Zane was so intense I was nearly in tears most of this book. Ty and Zane had a relationship I thought I knew intimately and this book explodes what I knew and rebuilds it. Was this hard? Hells yeah but it totally wowed me because it showcases a much more nuanced romance than in the previous books.

I have to also mention the absolutely amazing flashbacks in Touch & Geaux. I won’t spoil what they are but they offer incredible insights into Ty and Zane. Again, just compelling storytelling here.

What I Also Liked: Ty’s friends play huge roles in Touch & Geaux and I loved it. They’re a stellar group of secondary characters that I hope each end up in their own stories. In fact, I have my own little spark of hope that two of Ty’s friends may end up together—contact me if you want to speculate with me!

The plot involves danger from both Ty and Zane’s previous undercover work and Ty’s shadowy military history. This offered plenty of action and a tour of New Orleans’ underbelly. NOLA was such a great setting for the book that the city almost becomes another character in the book.

What I Didn’t Like: The captivating storytelling and amazing characters of Ty and Zane will keep me reading this series, I don’t need a cliffhanger ending to continue. At least this book’s conflict was resolved and another briefly opens to offer the cliffhanger. Still this makes readers (i.e. ME!) agonize until book eight is released in who-knows-how-long.

IMO: Touch & Geaux isn’t an easy book because of its rollercoaster emotional intensity but it’s so delicious because of it. Prepare yourself!
