Before his mission began, he went home. 24 hours to say goodbye to his twin sister.

Instead he found her. A girl that was nothing like the one he thought he knew.

They have 24 hours. 24 hours before he deploys on an extremely dangerous mission. 24 hours together in a freak West Texas snowstorm. 24 hours that will have to get them both through the awful next year.

When the resident good-girl decides to take on the visiting bad-boy, 24 hours is all it takes to change their lives forever.

This is the story of the 24 hours that no one knew ever occurred…until now.

The timeline of this novella is set before the When the Mission Ends trilogy occurs, but this book is actually meant to be read between Book #2, Operation: Endeavor, and Book #3, Operation: Endurance.

After reading Operation: Endeavor (my review), I wanted had to know the backstory involving Chris and Julie. There was obviously some history between these two and I’m glad I now know what that history is.

I really liked that Before the Mission Begins didn’t just jump into a sex scene. There was enough build-up between Chris and Julie, it gave the impression that their relationship lasts longer than just the duration of one love-making session and it gave their relationship room for validity and longevity.

I read this novella so quickly that I didn't take any notes on it for my review. It grabbed me from the start and I just wanted to know all of the details between Chris and Julie's brief encounter. Just as it says in the books description, this book does take place before the first book in this series however, it should be read after book 2. And now I am ready to read their book – Operation: Endurance.

Bit of a side note - There's potential for a spinoff series involving Julie's younger brother. He is in a motorcycle gang and has been described as “hell on wheels”. That would make for an interesting romantic suspense novel, especially with motorcycle club romance novels being on the rise.

  2. I had to know too!

I also know what you mean about taking notes. Christi's writing pulls you in from the very first chapter and doesn't let go. (Actually, from the time that I started the prologue in Operation: Endgame *sigh*) I can't wait until Operation: Endurance - but I know it's going to be a rough one.
