The Book Vixen's In My Pocket

In My Pocket is a new weekly feature where J9 and I share some of the links we’ve collected in Pocket. (To find out what Pocket is and how to use it, check out my tutorial on Pocket.) Some links will be book-related while some may be off-topic. Who knows what you’ll find in our Pocket ;) And if you use Pocket, we invite you to share what’s in your Pocket as well.

In Brianna's Pocket:

  • Amazon is making changes to their ‘Operating Agreement’ for Amazon Affiliates. Starting 3/1, if you promote too many FREE Kindle books, you won’t get any commission for the month. If you notice a decrease in Kindle book freebie posts and tweets, this is likely the reason for it.

“In addition, notwithstanding the advertising fee rates described on this page or anything to the contrary contained in this Operating Agreement, if we determine you are primarily promoting free Kindle eBooks (i.e., eBooks for which the customer purchase price is $0.00), YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO EARN ANY ADVERTISING FEES DURING ANY MONTH IN WHICH YOU MEET THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
    (a) 20,000 or more free Kindle eBooks are ordered and downloaded during Sessions attributed to your Special Links; and
    (b) At least 80% of all Kindle eBooks ordered and downloaded during Sessions attributed to your Special Links are free Kindle eBooks.”

  • Nicholas Sparks has done it again! He’s sold the movie rights to his latest (and yet to be released) novel. This will be the first Nicholas Spark book-to-movie adaptation for Fox 2000. And we also learn that the novel will be titled The Longest Ride, which is set to release September 24, 2013 by Grand Central Publishing. (Click on the link and you’ll see what this book will be about.)
  • With Facebook’s Graph Search causing privacy concerns, you might want to see just how well your Facebook profile is locked down with PrivacyFix. (I saw this on Girlxoxo.)
  • Heroes and Heartbreakers has an article written by Kiersten Hallie Krum on romantic suspense and why it’s hot.
  • Julie from Yummy Men & Kick Ass Chicks asked some authors What’s in a name?
  • Burger King’s Twitter account was hacked and it was kind of funny.

  1. How do we check how many free ebooks were ordered through our link vs. $ ebooks?

    1. Great question! I'm not sure if there is a way to check this. I'll have to play around with the Amz Affiliate site to see...

  2. Ugh, that's really annoying about the new operating agreement for Amazon!

I'm also trying out privacy fix. Thanks!

    1. The Amz thing bugs me too. Don't understand why Amz cares if most of links referred are for free Kindle books, since it drives traffic to their site.
