Today J9 is interviewing author Moira Rogers. Welcome to The Book Vixen ladies!
J9: There are so many great characters in this book, do you have a favorite?
Donna: I think Shane might be my favorite. He's so socially clueless and yet also not, because he's very in tune with his wolf side, and there's no room for cluelessness with that sort of instinct. So he ends up being kind of like a court jester--spitting out the harsh truth even when no one wants to hear it.
Bree: It's hard to pick a favorite, especially since Donna stole Shane. ;) But I think I have a soft spot for Zack, the crazy, broken alpha. He's got so much pain and is more than a little crazy, but how much he still cares is the only thing keeping him alive.
J9: Can you explain how this Green Pines series is connected to your Red Rock Pass series?
Donna: They're both set in the same universe, and the events in Haunted Sanctuary kick off roughly four years after the end of Sanctuary Unbound. We're definitely going to see some familiar faces as Gavin & Sam send out the troops to help Jay secure his new sanctuary.
J9: What made you set this book in the south?
Donna: Partly, we wanted to show that these sanctuaries, though spread thin, exist all over the country. And partly I wanted to write something a little closer to home!
Bree: It was Donna's turn for home territory. Maybe next time I'll drag us back to New England. ;)
J9: This book is set in a small southern town. Do you have experience living in such a town or did you have to imagine this aspect of the setting?
Donna: Sometimes I wish I didn't have so much experience with it. LOL I've definitely spent a good part of my life in small, close-knit communities. They can be claustrophobic, but also so, so supportive and warm.
Bree: I grew up in a New England fishing village. We had about sixty year round residents and maybe a hundred people total with the summer folk. Small towns are in my blood, even if I'm only an honorary Southerner.
J9: How many books in the Green Pines series are you planning?
Donna: There will be four.
Bree: And the series will be quite tightly knit, with each book focusing on one couple, but the main mystery arc not resolving until the end of the fourth book.
J9: When can we expect the next book in this series?
Donna: We're working on it right now. It's already been contracted with our editor, and is slated for release in July 2013.
Bree: If all goes well, books three and four will follow in 2014.
What’s all this talk of “we” ??
Yup, we. As in two. Moira Rogers is two people, a pair of best friends who collaborate to the extent that sometimes they might as well be one person. (Or perhaps share one brain between the two of them.)

Title: Haunted Sanctuary
Series: Green Pines, Book 1
Author: Moira Rogers
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Published: January 22, 2013 by Samhain
The shadows of her past could destroy their future.Eden Green can’t remember a time she didn’t believe in monsters—her cousin was born one. Her family’s dark past casts a long shadow, making it hard to make friends and harder to commit to a lover. She lives a quiet life in small-town Clover, Tennessee, but she’s always waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Tired of the city packs’ corruption, yet too alpha to be a subordinate in a sanctuary town, Jay Ancheta satisfies his need to protect by serving as Clover’s Chief of Police. As much as he’s drawn to Eden, he can’t offer forever to a woman who doesn’t know what he is—or trust himself to let her go after one taste.
When Eden’s cousin and his battered pack stagger into town, their tormentors hard on their heels, Eden is bitten in the chaos. Now Jay not only has a traumatized pack to deal with, but a newly turned wolf with enough hungry alpha power to consume them both.
With their combined strength, they can create a new sanctuary—if their passion can survive the ghosts of the Green family’s legacy.
Warning: Contains a newly turned werewolf heroine who enjoys a little rough dominance in bed and a badass alpha wolf hero who’ll fight bad guys, ghosts and even the past to protect what’s his. Be prepared for violence, death and heartbreak on the way to a happily ever after.

Sounds interesting! I love werewolf stories, I guess it is really escapism from reality that drives me to read them. Will I be able to jump right in not having read the prior series??
