Firefighters Lee Stanton and Dirk Krause need a vacation. Work seems to have other ideas: they spend the day before their holiday begins battling a fire that claims three lives. Thankfully, Lee and Dirk will have a whole week on the high seas to recover.

They’re having a wonderful time—until they spot Dirk’s miserable, closed-minded father on the ship. Between his father’s presence and his guilt over the lives he couldn’t save, Dirk feels sure his romantic cruise is going to tank. But then he saves another passenger’s life—and maybe he can salvage something else too.

In a Nutshell: Exactly the romantic development I wanted for Lee and Dirk from the previous two novellas. This delicious romance will charm any MM reader as it has me.

The Set Up: Dirk and Lee are in desperate need of a vacation after their miserable shifts at the firehouse. The couple decides to take a cruise but find Dirk’s closed-minded father is on the same cruise. Now Dirk needs to decide if he wants to enjoy his time with Lee or let his father ruin it.

Why I Read this Book: Loved the first two novellas and couldn’t wait to read this one.

What I Liked: I love that Dirk and Lee show themselves as a couple on this cruise. They dance together, snorkel and sex it up like any committed couple on vacation. I love how natural this loving relationship is. Both men need time away from their high pressure jobs so this cruise is a fun way as a reader to watch the men relax and simply enjoy each other’s company.

What I Also Liked: There are some nice conversations between Dirk and his father. This isn’t an easy relationship for either since they’re so similar but I liked the realism of their relationship. It’s not simple or fixed but it’s developing and I enjoyed that.

What I Didn’t Like: I don’t know if the author will write more in this series but if so I hope he hurries up!

IMO: This is best read in series order but the romance is well worth the investment. I now count myself a fan of this author.

  1. I've been looking at this series since the author will be at AADSAV and I meet him at AADNOLA but ever since I read Cut & Run I've been looking for more M/M books to read.

    1. These are novellas and only 3 so far. The romance and plots are MUCH lighter than C&R so not all that comparable but still better than average MM romance.

I've read a lot of Andrew Grey's MM and really enjoyed most of it. I'd recommend him as an author for the most part.
