Leather and lace don't strike sparks. Or do they? It's Valentine's Day, but Macy Rodgers isn't feeling the love. Aside from a torrid, one-night fling in a backseat a few months back, her love life has been sorely lacking, but fortunately she has devious friends who feel like playing Cupid. Wouldn't they be shocked to learn that the match they've made for her is the same one that steamed up the back of that '69 GTO...
Seth "Ghost" Warren has just returned to town after an extended absence. Between his grandmother's failing health, his job as a tattoo artist, his band's gigs, and a crazy ex that won't leave him alone, he's stretched thin. Cautious cowgirl Macy is the last thing he needs thrown into the mix.
She's all country, he's all heavy metal—and Macy knows that if anyone can propel her out of her rut, it's Seth. But when their worlds collide, it's anyone guess if they'll survive with their hearts intact.
Warning: Contains explicit sex, graphic language, road trips, troublemaking exes, emotional baggage, and an unconventional but exceptionally hot hero tatted and pierced for your pleasure...
Why I Read this Book: As soon as I found out the hero in this book has a pierced peen, I had to read it! And that’s not all Seth has pierced ;)
What I Liked: I’m going to make a confession: I usually don’t like bald guys. The first image that comes to my mind is Mr. Clean. But I have learned to picture Vin Diesel and all is good.
Seth is different than your average hero but he’s a good guy. He’s all tat’d up, has nipple rings, has his peen pierced, and is very into heavy metal. He’s so raw and gritty, I love it! At the same time, he’s well-rounded. He was raised right and knows how to be a gentleman, while being himself at the same time.
The progression of Macy and Seth’s relationship paced well. Their initial meeting and hook up takes place in another book (I’m thinking book 2) so I missed out on their vehicular “relations” (damn it!!). From what I gathered in flashbacks in this book, it was pretty hot. I’ll definitely have to go back and read books 1 and 2. I also liked Brian and Candace and would love to read their book and see how their relationship came to be.
There was some hilarious banter, not only between Seth and Macy but Seth and Brian (Seth's BFF) as well. That’s a great camaraderie right there, Seth and Brian. Says Seth to Brian:
“Do you need a hug, emo boy? You know, you might want to cross your legs. Your vagina is showing.”
And speaking of hilarity, the story behind Seth’s nickname ‘Ghost’ was fan-freakin-tastic!!
What I Didn’t Like: It’s infuriating to me when a heroine hides the fact that she’s still friends with an ex from the hero. Worse is when she hangs out with the ex and doesn’t tell the hero this. She thinks there’s nothing wrong with this yet if that were true, she would have mentioned it to the hero because it would be no big deal. We all know how well that turns out because the hero is bound to find and it bombs on the heroine big time. I can see plot device coming from a mile away because it’s too predictable.
Memorable Moments:
“Where you trying to go, huh? Come on me, Macy. Come on me, or I’ll take you outside and make you scream right there on the front lawn for the whole fuckin’ neighborhood to hear.”
“You would wreck me, you know that?”
“Because I’m telling you, if you come near him like that again, I will go straight country bitch on you.”
Overall Impression: Leave Me Breathless did just that – it left me breathless. There were some intense moments but I was completely engaged in this story from beginning to end. All in all, it was a great story of two very different people, the Rodeo Queen and the heavy metal guitarist, falling in love. And while there were some very steamy scenes, there was more to their relationship than just sex.
Brianna’s Rating:
Pierced peen for the win! ;)
ReplyDeleteDespite the rough exterior, Seth sounds like a good guy.
ReplyDeleteI just finished the book. I like bald guys, so Seth worked for me on all levels, head to toe, LOL. I read Rock Me, but that was at least 2 years ago and I don't remember it that well. I do remember really liking Brian, but not being particularly wild about Candace. She came off as very immature. I'm glad I gave this one a try.
