What’s your reading goal for 2013? If it’s to read more books, then this is the reading challenge for you! There have been almost 400 readers who wanted to outdo themselves so far. Are you up for the challenge?
Reading Challenge Details:
- Runs January 1, 2013 – December 31, 2013 (books read prior to 1/1/2013 do not count towards the challenge). You can join at anytime. Sign up on The Book Vixen’s blog.
- The goal is to outdo yourself by reading more books in 2013 than you did in 2012. See the different levels below and pick the one that works best for you. You can move up a level as often as you’d like but no moving down.
- Books can be any format (bound, ebook, audio).
- Novellas that are at least 100 pages in length, as well as full-length novels, will count for this reading challenge.
- Re-reads and crossovers from other reading challenges are allowed.
- Grab the reading challenge button and post this reading challenge on your blog to track your progress. Please include a link back to this sign-up post so others can join the reading challenge too. You do not have to be a book blogger to participate; you can track your progress on Goodreads or LibraryThing.
Levels:
Getting my heart rate up – Read 1–5 more books
Out of breath – Read 6–10 more books
Breaking a sweat – Read 11–15 more books

DeleteThanks for hosting again, Brianna!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad people like doing the challenge :)
DeleteWell, I didn't keep track of the books I read in 2012. so how do I know how to outdo it? LOL. I guess I have to sign up for at least one of your challenges for2013, so then I can outdo for 2014!
ReplyDeleteIf you're on Goodreads, you can track what you read during the year. I make a shelf for each year (read in 2012).
DeleteI'm in-for as many as possible......i need to read more anyway-less tv, more reading
ReplyDeleteLOL! I don't think it will be hard to outdo my 2012--I hardly read anything this year. FYI Debbie you can track your reading on Goodreads. :) http://www.goodreads.com/challenges/207-2012-reading-challenge (I'm sure they will have another one for 2013)
ReplyDeleteI read less this year too. I wanted so badly to make it to 100 but that's just not going to happen. I'm hoping to break over 100 in 2013 :)
DeleteWhat if I don't have a blog?
ReplyDeleteYou can use Goodreads to track you progress by creating a shelf and labeling it something like '2013 Outdo Yourself'.
DeleteThanks for hosting! Can't wait to see if I can do it! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like such an awesome challange. And this will be my first every challange and I am so excited!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to do this challenge! It will be my first ever reading challenge :)
ReplyDeleteExcited! Definitely joining
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try it, but I've read 158 titles this year... realistically, I dunno if I can do more next year. I'll be aiming at 100, but more then the 161 I have as goal for 2012 is a lot, lol.
ReplyDeleteI may do a late sign-up depending on how the reading goes in 2013 though :D
I've been tracking my reads on Goodreads and so far I'm behind on my 2012 goal. But I hope to read at least 1-5 books more than whatever I end up with at the end of the year. I linked up my Goodreads shelf made for this challenge.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds fun. I'm in and rarin to go!

I did this challenge last year but unfortunately did not read more than I did the year before because in 2011 I did not have a job but in 2012 I did, so I would like to try this again this year and read more in 2013 than I did in 2012. Thank you for hosting this.
ReplyDeleteHere is the link to my list - http://griperangsbookmarks.blogspot.com/p/2013-challenges.html I am going for get my heart rate up

Such a great idea! I've read 84 books this year so I'm going to aim to read at least 1 more book this upcoming year! That seems like so many books, but I see that someone else is aiming for 800! Wow!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. I read 34 (and hope to finish one more tonight) and have joined 3 other reading challenges and belong in a book club so let's hope I can get more than 35 books read next year! I am hoping to complete 50 so hopefully I can break a sweat! Great idea.
ReplyDeleteDo only novels and novellas count for this challenge? What about memoirs, poetry collections, etc.?
ReplyDeleteIf it is at least 100 pages in length, it counts towards this challenge.
DeleteThanks for hosting again!! I'm in!
ReplyDeleteI'm back for another try! Thanks for hosting. =O)
ReplyDeleteHope you had a lovely holiday season and happy new year!
This is a great idea! I would have never thought of it! Ingenious!

Hey There,
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting the challenge. I was delighted to join in and get better aquainted with your site. So lets make it interesting and raise the bar a little. I challenge everyone who entered the challenge to read 50 books in 2013. You can do it, it's only about 4 books a month and Brianna has lots of great recommendations to help with choosing only great books.
Madeleine
I want to join in! Here's the link to my blog post (I read the directions a couple times over, so I hope I'm doing this right): http://julielew.blogspot.com/2013/03/2013-outdo-yourself-reading-challenge.html
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't join right, can you please help me? :)
