He Never Misses a TargetJake "the Snake" Sommers earned his SEAL codename by striking quickly and quietly - and with lethal force. That's how he broke Michelle Carter's heart. It was the only way to keep her safe - from himself. Four long years later, Jake is determined to get a second chance. But to steal back into Michelle's loving arms, Jake is going to have to prove he can take things slow. Real slow...
She Aims to Make Him Beg
Michelle Carter has never forgiven Jake for being so cliché as to "love her and leave her." But when her brother, head of the Black Knights elite ops agency, ticks off the wrong mobster, she must do the unimaginable: place her life in Jake's hands. No matter what they call him, this man is far from cold-blooded. And once he's wrapped around her heart, he'll never let her go...
Why I Read this Book: I’ve been hooked on this series since book one.
What I Liked: After the prologue, Rev It Up starts up right where In Rides Trouble left off. The prologue was the most intense part of the book. It just, POW! The prologue sets up the background story for Jake and Michelle. And their romance is not your traditional love story; it’s quite complex.
Jake is not an arrogant macho man who thinks he’s invincible. He knows there is danger present and he takes caution. He also realizes that Michelle can handle herself so there’s no need for him to act like a overbearing superhero. And when he does need to leave her side, he leaves her well-armed.
Just when you think you know all there is to know about Michelle, there’s more. Something big and something I sure as hell didn’t see coming.
There’s a secondary romance blossoming in Rev It Up and it’s between Rock and Vanessa. The chemistry between them is definitely there. And speaking of Rock, what the heck is that guy’s other job??
I can tell the author has researched militant aspects in these novels and it makes the stories feel authentic.
What I Didn’t Like: Not a damn thing.
Memorable Moment:
“Of course, that doesn’t mean I won’t sneak into your room while you sleep and slit your throat should you hurt her.”
He pressed up against her, butt to nuts in military speak.
Overall Impression: Rev It Up is the best book in the series so far. This series just gets better and better with each installment. We currently have a giveaway for this book but hurry up and enter because it ends tomorrow.
I had a little impromptu interview with the author on Twitter. I asked if this series will continue on and she said “Absolutely!”. She also revealed that Book 4 will hit shelves in April, and Book 5 six months after that. There will probably be 10-12 books in total for the series. Book 4 will be Rock and Vanessa’s story (yay!). When I asked if Billy and Eve will be getting their own book she said that they will play secondary characters again in Book 4 and that Book 5 is their story. And it’s “sooo angsty”. I cannot wait!!

Sounds great. I'm going to have to put it on my TBR pile.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of this series yet, but if it's on your auto buy/read list, I'll have to look into it. Sounds awesome. :)
