The Kindle Paperwhite has 2 things I want: (1) the built-in light and (2) the Time to Read feature. The Time to Read feature will let you know how long it will take to finish reading a chapter or book. It monitors your reading speed (via page clicks) and constantly updates as your reading speed and habits change. Sounds pretty cool, even if it’s a bit like Big-Brother is watching you.

There is a disclaimer on Amazon’s product page for this device. It reads:

Interesting. Hopefully Amazon gets the ‘all clear’ from the FCC in time for the 11/20 release date.
Now that you’ve seen the new Kindle line up, which one do you have your eyes set on? Me, I currently have the Kindle Touch but what I REALLY want is the Kindle Paperwhite. Santa, are you listening?

I also have the Kindle Touch, but I Pre-Ordered the Paperwhite. I'm so excited about the light and the time function, same as you!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying really hard to hold off on getting the Paperwhite, seeing that I just got the Kindle Touch last year and it still works like a champ. But it's going to be hard. WANT!
DeleteI'd love to have the Paperwhite, but I'm waiting this time. Looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say though.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping you would get it. Then you could tell me how fabulous it is :)
DeleteA few of them do sound tempting, but I already have a base one and a Fire so I can't see buying a new one for the extra features even though it might be nice!
ReplyDeleteI wish the Time to Read feature could be a software update, that way us current Kindle owners could enjoy the feature too. #WishfulThinking
DeleteI got my first Kindle (Touch) in December. I have preordered the Paperwhite WiFi. I am so excited!! I also splurged and bought the leather Amazon cover. Apparently it wakes your Kindle when you open it and puts it to sleep when you close it. Maybe they've always done it.
ReplyDeleteLike you I'm excited for the lighting feature and the read time. My husband can be awakened by my book light and it leaves a big blob of light on my Kindle. I've always wanted to know how much time it takes me to read but I'm terrible of tracking that stuff myself.
That's a pretty ingenuitive cover! I've never had an Amazon cover for any of my Kindles so I'm not sure if that's a new feature or something that's been around for a while.
