Today, I have author Alice Clayton here sharing an excerpt from her upcoming novel, the 3rd book in her Redhead series, which has yet to be titled. Alice also has another (unrelated) novel coming out soon, Wallbanger, which will release on 11/27/2012.
Welcome back to The Book Vixen Alice!
I went into the kitchen, poured myself a glass of red, and headed out to the patio to wait for Jack. Curling up on the loveseat, I let myself relax into the night. I had barely started to worry about what was taking him so long when I heard a car pull into the driveway. Moments later I saw him walking through the house through the big windows that lined the living room, as he made a weavy sort of path towards the patio. He knew where I’d be.“C’mere,” he said, his voice quiet but his eyes beginning to darken.
“So…I take it everything went ok?” I asked, pulling the towel off my head and shaking my hair out a bit. “I was getting a bit worried, but I figured you stayed for bit so you could-“
“Grace?” he interrupted.
“Yeah?”
“C’mere,” he repeated, beckoning me forward with two fingers. I let myself be beckoned. As soon as I was close enough he pulled me down onto his lap, pressing the entire length of his body to mine. Whiskey heat poured from his skin, dark and the tiniest bit dangerous.
“I don’t want to talk about tonight,” he whispered into my skin, his jaw sandpapering my neck in a very good way.
“Don’t you think we should? I mean, what happens if-“
“No more talking tonight,” he muttered, his mouth crashing down onto mine.
His lips were sure and insistent, his tongue exploring my mouth with a need that was answered quickly by my own.
His hands pushed up my shift, searching, needing, finding my skin. I shivered at his touch, not just from the chilliness of the nighttime but because his hands on me always had the same effect. I needed him, always.
“I need, Christ, I just need,” he stammered, in between rough kisses on my lips, my cheeks, just under my ear.
“What love, what do you need?” I asked, arching into him, holding him to me.
“Fuck Grace, I need this,” he groaned, his hands strong and not at all gentle. I didn’t always need gentle. And he needed me.
Alice Clayton is a new novelist with an unholy love for her Kitchen aid mixer. Making her home in St Louis, she enjoys gardening but not weeding, baking but not cleaning up afterwards, and is trying desperately to get her long time boyfriend to make her an honest woman. Hi sweetie!!
The Unidentified Redhead is Alice's first novel, and first ever attempt at writing anything other than a grocery list. Imagine her surprise when she found out it was going to be published. Alice says "I wanted to write something that I would get a kick out of reading. I don't normally enjoy romance novels, but I am a sucker for a interesting story with a little...ahem...heat? But I also crave the funny. Why not combine the two? Why not funny smut? Why not comedic erotica?"
Why not indeed.
Alice would like you to know that she is no longer comfortable talking about herself in third person (Hi everyone!!*waves*) and thinks that you should simply trust her and give The Unidentified Redhead a try. She thinks you, and your significant other, will be pleased.
Alice would also like all her readers to help her convince her long time boyfriend that the only other thing that would make her truly happy is finally bringing home a Bernese Mountain Dog.
