Mating season on the arctic planet of Jensen is a time for eligible men to winter with a potential spouse. In the past, Koll’s big size and gruff disposition have scared off many available women. When Shila literally falls into his arms, he hopes maybe this year will be different.

Shila belongs to a race of shifters who are able to transform into enormous frost bears. She loves Koll’s large body and sexy growl, and she understands the benefit of having a strong protector. With two male shifters stalking her, she needs Koll to keep her safe. But can he defeat the competition?

In a Nutshell: Wowsa, super sexy MF shifter story. These two leads produce enough heat to make readers need a fan blowing on them while reading this!

The Set Up: On his arctic planet, Koll is an outcast for his huge frame and gruff demeanor. On his way home after yet again failing to persuade a woman to share the winter season with him, the exotic and large-framed Shila literally falls at his feet. Shila is a two-skinner, a bear shifter, and she’s on the run from brothers who want to breed her. Koll and Shila keep each other warm through the long winter and plot to keep Shila safe.

Why I Read this Book: I often like books published by Liquid Silver and was prowling their website and read an excerpt and got hooked.

What I Liked: It’s a rare erotic story that can use sex to develop emotional intimacy but this short novella does exactly that. Koll has insecurities about his personality and physical size and the author successfully uses sexual intimacy with Shila to help heal him. Plus, this author can write some smokin’ hot erotica! The cold world certainly allows for some interesting exploration I hadn’t read before!

I also liked the plot with the men chasing Shila and how this played into the couple’s acceptance in the village. The plot and secondary characters grounded the story since much of the story is dedicated to the sexual intimacy between Koll and Shila.

IMO: So long as readers are looking for an erotic romance this will fit the bill, just be sure to have a tall glass of ice water nearby!

  1. Ooh, you had me at big, gruff guys and bear shifters. Unfortunately, it's out of my price range for a 70 page novella. I keep a really strict book budget (otherwise I'd spend every penny on books LOL) and $2 is my limit for novellas. Maybe at the end of the month, if there's a bit of money left over in the budget....

    1. I hear you, JenM. I think that is the only bad thing about this novella...good luck sticking to your book budget! I have to do the same in life and it's a bummer! ;-)
