AUTHOR GUEST POST & GIVEAWAY [CLOSED]: J.A. Saare

I am thrilled to have J.A. Saare here with us today for a guest post and to giveaway a copy of her upcoming release The Renfield Syndrome. If you’re like me, you’ve read Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between and have been dying to read The Renfield Syndrome ever since. (And if you haven’t read DUoSiB then you need to get on that STAT!) Thank goodness it comes out soon (on August 23 to be exact).

Take it away J.A. Saare!

When I was asked to share ten of my quirky writing habits, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to. After all, who thinks about what they do when they write? Fortunately, I’m wading through edits and I paid attention to what I needed to get the job done.

Without further ado…

10. Slim Jims. I have to have my Slim Jims! When I’m working, they are my favorite snack.

9. Cherry Diet Dr. Pepper. I love this stuff. And besides, you can’t enjoy a Slim Jim without one!

8. My laptop. Sorting through email is impossible when I’m working, so I use it to make sure I don’t miss out on anything important. Which brings me to…

7. My PC. I do all of my writing (well, most of it) in the same place I started three years ago. The laptop is good for email, Twitter, and Facebook, but when I create I need my computer.

6. Music. I can’t write without it. Since there are always kidlets around, silence bothers me. On the rare occasion when I can’t access iTunes, I’ll turn on the television or grab my headphones.

5. My betta fish, Kemosabe. When I need a break, I’ll sit back and watch him swim around. It’s not only relaxing, it helps me slow down and ease back into work.

4. My mini space heater. I stay cold, even in the summer. Nothing kills the muse faster than cold chills, trust me!

3. Sticky notes. Whenever I’m working I constantly jot down things. It really helps me keep track and avoid repetitious wording. The bad part is I have sticky notes all over my desk. That means sometimes I can’t find what I need.

2. Andrew Garfield. Everyone knows about the torch I carry for the guy. When I’m frustrated or want to give up, I’ll stare at the clippings on Andrew of my cork board and within a few minutes all is right with the world.

1. I saved the best for last… When I’m writing I have to have the tiny collection of plastic toys in front of my computer screen. My children have caught me playing with them often enough that they’ve added to my collection over the years. When I’m tempted to get up and leave the office, I’ll move them around and redecorate as a distraction. Within a few minutes I’m usually ready to pound away at the keyboard.

Thanks for having me by and allowing me to share. I suppose I’m not all that quirky, just a bit odd. Odd is okay, right? ;-)

I think we need to see a picture of your toy collectionWinking smile

ABOUT THE BOOK

Vampires, and werewolves, and demons, oh my.

Rhiannon thought facing off against a deranged child vampire was the most dangerous task she would ever have to undertake, but she’s about to discover making a deal with a demon is far, far worse. Sent forward into another reality, one in which vampires are now dominating nearly extinct humans, she realizes the sooner she returns to her vampire lover, Disco, the better.

Unfortunately, time changes a lot of things; including those most trusted around her. When she’s faced with a loss and betrayal unlike any she has ever known, her focus shifts from severing the debt between the demon that wants to kill her, to exacting a revenge that will bring forth consequences she never could have fathomed. By reaching out to the darkness lingering within her, she’ll find the strength to push forward despite the circumstances that would see her dead and buried.

After all, when it’s all said and done, all that she has left to lose is her soul.

I'm a Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper fan too. I was surprised when it came out cause Dr. P is supposed to be cherry flavored already. It's just so red I'm afraid it'll stain my teeth. But, the Slim Jim thing... ewwww.

I was just looking at my Copy of DUoSiB (which is next up on my TBR pile) that I'd gotten for my kindle and the cover is completely different. I guess I was curious as to why the cover change?

Thanks for the contest. Glad there's a sequel to DUoSiB, also.

I'm giggling a bit about the toys. I think there's more of us than we'd like to admit - grownups who save and play with little toys. :) For years nd years, I would get happy meals just for toys. My kids thought I was a little weird, but now I have toys that belong to me and I share them with my grandchildren. Which they love. My granddaughter loves to "borrow" them (forever) and has even loaned me some of her toys. :) That's important-most four year olds don't like to share, but she's sharing a bit with me. Tell you the truth, I don't really like to share either. LOL
