Resolutions: Mid-Year Update

We’re a little over half way done with 2011 so I decided to revisit my New Year Resolutions post to see how I was doing. People, I shouldn’t be making resolutions – I’m horrible at committing to them. (Actually, I was smart enough to call them ‘goals’. See how well I know myself?)

My Goals for 2011:

  1. Read 100 books this year. <--- I’m on track to reach this goal so yay! But we’ll see how things go once I have the baby.
  2. Not get behind on writing reviews. <--- I actually got completely caught up, once. And it didn’t last long.
  3. Read more Urban Fantasy. <--- I’ve read a couple of UF series so far. Go me!
  4. Manage time spent online more effectively. <--- I’m still bad at this. Damn you, Twitter!
  5. Become a runner. <--- About 2 weeks into my treadmill workout (I was starting off with walking) I found out I was pregnant. Maybe next year.

YA books I’m anxious to read in 2011:

  1. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins <--- Still need to read. Plan to do so very soon.
  2. The Mockingbirds by Daisy Whitney <--- Maybe next year.
  3. Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan <--- Read it and didn’t like it Sad smile
  4. The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead <--- Still dying to read this series! Hopefully this year.
  5. Where She Went by Gayle Forman <--- Read it and enjoyed it.
  6. The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins <--- Another series I’m still dying to read. Again, hopefully this year.
  7. The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson <--- Maybe next year.
  8. Unwind by Neal Shusterman <--- Maybe next year.

Adult books I’m anxious to read in 2011:

  1. Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning <--- Read it. It was okay but didn’t meet my expectations.
  2. Lover Mine by J.R. Ward <--- Still need to read. Hopefully this year.
  3. April & Oliver by Tess Callahan <--- Maybe next year.
  4. Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning <--- Read it and it was made of awesome!
  5. Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro <--- Still need to read. Hopefully this year.
  6. Fast Track series by Erin McCarthy <--- I am completely caught up with this series. I cannot wait for Slow Ride to come out.
  7. The Iron Duke by Meljean Brook <--- Maybe next year.
  8. Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch <--- Maybe next year.
  9. Downside Ghosts series by Stacia Kane <--- Maybe next year.
  10. A Megan Hart book <--- Maybe next year.

If you made some resolutions or goals for 2011, how’s your progress so far?

haha, I had The Black Dagger Brotherhood on my list this year too. Did it and enjoyed it...def. books you need to commit to the whole series to enjoy 'cause some of the books are really good, and others are good because they set up the goodness for other books. I also have the Iron Duke (on my nook!) and the Vampire Academy series in the TBR...Your book goals look a lot like mine! I always wonder where my time goes...I know I read a lot, but I'm still stuck with a ton I need to read! lol.

Wow you made a lot of goals! I only had One. Ive been pretty sick these past few years and I had a huge operation last year to fix it. So this year I'm bound and determined to stay out of the hospital. So far so good!

I made two resolutions for 2011 and am a bit sketchy on both. It's very tough to stick to them. I need to add a third - manage my online time better. I know you have this one on your list. It is so tough. My smart phone is my downfall. Dang it. I need to put it away - far away - for the evening. Ha ha

We do have the same taste! And yes, it seems like we read a lot but there are still so many books I want to read.

I think I'm going to stop reading the BDB Series after Lover Mine. I might read Tohr's book (he needs a HEA) but that's about it. I'm not good with long series O.O

Yay on staying out of the hospital!

It is tough to manage our time online effectively. There are so many sites that just suck the time away! LOL

You have to read Z's book in BDB...by far my favorite of the series...Plus, it's one of the more stand-alone-ish of the series.

I'm afraid to start BDB because I know I will end up locked in a room until I'm done with them all. Ha ha

I think you're doing well and so organized! Are you going to try to read HG before the movie comes out?

Natalie (I'd So Rather Be Reading) said...

Twitter is the black hole of the internet and it just sucks me right in too! I had to cold turkey stop before I had the baby but I think I am ready to give into my twitter fever again :)

Kelli (I'd So Rather Be Reading) said...

I haven't read Never Let Me Go but I did watch the movie and it was some depressing shit. Have you noticed Nat is writing on blogs instead of reading? She's trying to read Forever and it's not going well for her---she's bored and wants to quit!

Oh, I've read Z's story and yes, I enjoyed it. I'm caught up to Lover Mine which I still need to read. I don't plan on reading the most recent BDB book but I'll probably read Tohr's and stop there.

It's such a great series though! And I love starting and reading series where a lot of the books have already been released. I hate waiting for books to come out. LOL

I plan on reading the books before the HG movie comes out. I won't be seeing the movie until it comes out on DVD anyways so I have some time.

I know, right? Twitter is the biggest time sucker/waster of all time. It's my favorite social networking site :) I have to check Twitter on a daily basis or I start having withdraw symptoms. LOL

Author J.A. Saare highly recommended Never Let Me Go so I have to read it. The way she talked about the book, I just gotta. It's just a matter of when I'll be able to.

I don't blame Nat for wanting to DNF Forever. And that's all I'll say about that :)

Aw that is sad that you are going to push off Touched by an Alien until next year. Martini is really hot!

I read the first book in Stacia Kane's series and I honestly don't think your missing out on much. The language is very choppy do to the fact that the characters don't speak proper English, they speak in slang all the time.

@Alexa

Sadly, but yeah. I've heard a lot about the infamous Martini :)
