Monday Bites: Twilight Re-Read Along Chapters 6-10

The Twilight Re-Read Along is hosted by GReads, Lisa the Nerd, The Secret Life of an Avid Reader & The Reading Housewives. If you’d like to re-read along too, you can get more details and sign up here.

This week’s questions – Chapters 6-10:

1. Because we have to talk about it sometime - are you Team Edward or Team Jacob? Does that impact how you re-read the book?

When I first read this series (before seeing any of the movies) I was Team Edward all the way. When I finally watched the movies, I switched ships and joined Team Jacob. Now that I’m reading Twilight again, I’m kind of going back to Team Edward. Book Edward is a bit less emo than movie Edward; Book Edward is easier to get to know, he’s kinder. And movie Jacob is hotter than book Jacob. Book Jacob is too young for Bella. When you’re a teenager, 2 years is a big age gap (maturity-wise).

2. Bella spends a lot of her time by herself in her room when she's not at school. What do you think this says about her as a character? Can you relate to her introverted nature?

She’s already grown dependent on Edward. Edward’s presence either makes or breaks her day. It seems like she’s just passing the time until she gets to see him again.

3. Probably my favorite chapter of the entire book, chapter eight brings us dress shopping, nearly getting assaulted, and then wraps up nicely with a quaint dinner and confession time. In this we see the blend of typical teenage existence starting to get tainted by the paranormal world. If given the choice right then, would you push to know more about the paranormal, or bury your head in the sand and live the teenage dream?

I would totally push to know about the paranormal. I’m a very curious person so I would definitely try to get as much out of Edward as I possibly could.

4. Already, it's pretty clear that Bella is falling for Edward. Is this happening too quickly to be plausible, or is it totally reasonable to you? What about Edward do you find to be swoonworthy at this point?

It’s a bit too quick for me. She barely knows Edward yet she’s already in love with him (before even kissing him!). Yeah, his old-fashioned charm and composure are very desirable and XXX but she needs to get to know him more before deciding she’s in love with the guy.

5. Jessica has to forcibly remove all of the details on what's going on from Bella, but through that we learn more about how she's feeling and how she's falling for Edward already. If you were in Jessica's shoes, what would you say to Bella?

Jessica was pretty good at asking the questions. And she squeezes Bella for the answers too.

"Book Edward is easier to get to know, he’s kinder" SO TRUE!
Book Edward is wittier and even if they are stifled laughs, he does laugh... and he has this charm about him!

And I too would want to know more, I am too curious for my own good :)

Book Edward is soooooooo much better then movie Edward. I have to agree a ton. In the movie he is a bit depressing and to up tight. In the book he is smiling and joking etc.
Also I have to agree that Jacob is so much better looking in the movies. In the book he sound a bit awkward.
Great answers!!!

I read somewhere that Meyer didn't agree with Pattinson's portrayal of Edward. I guess Pattinson saw Edward as way more depressed than Meyer did, thus the discrepancy. I prefer book Edward better too.

I also agree that Jessica was better with the questions than I remember her being. She didn't do too bad of a job...a little concern might have been nice, but other than that she got some good info.

I love book Edward, he actually has a sense of humor while being intense. If I had to base my team just on movies along Id say can I have Jacob with Edwards face...HAHA

Your answer to question 2 is interesting! I guess I never thought of it like that, but you're totally right!!

I know a few people who jumped ship when they saw the movie too. I'm a Team Edward girl myself, book & movie. You're the second person I've seen mention you'd be interested in the paranormal world. I think I'd be too freaked out!

2 years is a difference maturity wise! In my high schools, seniors dated freshmen a lot! haha! One senior I graduated with was dating an 8th grader...seriously!

You gotta kiss the guy! :)

Yani - RobPat is just too emo. LOL

thelibrarianreads - I can totally understand Meyer not liking RobPat's portrayal of Edward. Too bad she didn't have more a say in the matter.

Tina - Movie Jacob definitely has a better body than Movie Edward! RobPat needs some muscle.

Jacinda - A senior dating an 8th grader? Eww.

Edward had already saved Bella's life twice so I can see how she has become dependent on him. :) Isn't that the beginning with love, living for the next moment to be with your One?

I agree that Book Edward is so much better!
