RT Booklovers Convention is right around the corner! Here are some highlights of what to expect this year:
Attend the third annual E-Book, Independent Publisher and Graphic Novel Expo on Friday April 8, 2011 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm.
Meet more than 100 e-book, small-press, comic, manga and graphic novel authors who will be selling and signing their latest books at the Westin Bonaventure in downtown Los Angeles. Get up close and personal with the trendsetters in these emerging markets.
Also meet the leading e-book and small-press publishers, including Carina Press,Samhain, and Sourcebooks as they showcase their upcoming releases. Learn the latest technology to market books online. Stay tuned with the RT Booklovers' Convention for updates on the new generation of publishing, marketing and bookselling!
At the Friday expo, featured authors will sign a 2011 collectible poster. Readers will have a chance to win one of the 10 giant prize baskets chock full of goodies for comic, manga and graphic novel fans! Get your raffle tickets at the door.
There's more on Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm! Four hundred authors from every genre imaginable will be in one room for the Book Fair Extravaganza.
Bring your camera and favorite "keeper" books from home to have autographed. Our staff will have special labels to mark your books so they won't be mistaken for new books being sold. Barnes and Noble is facilitating the book fair and will supply books for purchase at the event.
Also on Saturday, Twilight fans won't want to miss this year's special Teen Day program from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm.
The fun begins at the bookfair where there will be a special area where teens can meet over thirty of the hottest young adult (YA) authors in the business, including Melissa Marr, Cassandra Clare, Kelley Armstrong, Ally Carter, Melissa de la Cruz, Alyson Noel and Richelle Mead.
Then it's on to the workshops and parties! Fans will participate in speed-dating with the authors, or be entertained as YA authors speed-read excerpts from their popular novels. Budding writers will learn how to build a fictional world as authors walk them through the writing process--complete with drawings, monologues, re-enactments and pantomime!
Besides pumping millions of dollars into the local economy, the RT BOOKLOVERS' Convention also believes in giving back to the community by donating books to support literacy, hosting a blood drive on Friday during our E-Book and Graphic Novel Expo, and accepting canned goods on behalf of the FoodBank of Southern California on Saturday at our Book Fair Extravaganza.
