I may not be able to get eBooks from the library on my Kindle but I can get them for my iPod Touch. A few people asked me about this so I put this simple tutorial together. A few things to keep in mind: (1) Check to see if your library has an eBook lending program, (2) You will need a library card in order to download eBooks and (3) Check your library’s website for requirements as they may differ from my library’s requirements. Here we go.
1. Download the OverDrive App onto your Apple device using the App Store.
2. Open the OverDrive App and click on the Get Books+ button.
3. Click on Settings. Under eBook Settings, click on Authorize with Adobe ID and enter in your Adobe account information. (You can create a free Adobe account using the OverDrive App or on the Adobe website.)
4. Click on Get Books then click on Add a Website and find your library using the Search feature.
5. Search or Browse for a book and check it out. (I noticed with my particular library, a lot of books were not available for me to check out right away; I had to add myself to a waiting list.)
6. Go to My Account > My Bookshelf and you’ll see the items you have checked out. Click on the Download button to download your eBook. It will take a few minutes to download, give or take, depending on the size of the file.
7. The OverDrive App will let you know that the book was added to your library and it will ask if you would like to download it now. Click Download Now.
Now the book is ready for you to read on your Apple device!
I’m trying to figure out how to listen to audio books from the library on my iPod Touch. If I can figure it out I’ll do a tutorial on that too, if anyone is interested.
