On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. If you want to know more click here.
The Summer Before Boys by Nora Raleigh Baskin
A timely, touching story about two young girls in their last summer as best friends.
This one doesn’t come out until May 10th, 2011 according to Goodreads. This one-liner blurb definitely caught my attention. Can’t wait to find out more about this book.
Between Here and Forever by Elizabeth Scott
A romantic but dark coming-of-age teen novel by the author of Perfect You and Living Dead Girl.
Another one that doesn’t come out until next year, May 24th, 2011 to be exact. I’m just full of suspense today, aren’t I?
Teach Me by R.A. Nelson
Teach Me invites readers inside an experience that fascinates everyone—an affair between a teacher and student—and gives an up-close-and-personal answer to the question: How does this happen?
Saw this one mentioned on Eleni’s blog. She has a weekly feature called Tantalizing Future YA Releases where in addition to future YA releases she also features a blast from the past. I get a lot of good, older book recommendations this way.
Sandpiper by Ellen Wittlinger
When The Walker, a mysterious boy who walks constantly, intervenes in an argument between Sandpiper and a boy she used to see, their lives become entwined in ways that change them both.
Another book that was featured on Eleni’s blast from the past.
The Marbury Lens by Andrew Smith
Sixteen-year-old Jack gets drunk and is in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is kidnapped. He escapes, narrowly. The only person he tells is his best friend, Conner. When they arrive in London as planned for summer break, a stranger hands Jack a pair of glasses. Through the lenses, he sees another world called Marbury. There is war in Marbury. It is a desolate and murderous place where Jack is responsible for the survival of two younger boys. Conner is there, too. But he’s trying to kill them.
Meanwhile, Jack is falling in love with an English girl, and afraid he’s losing his mind.
Conner tells Jack it’s going to be okay.
But it’s not.
Say a review for this one at All About {n}. I’ve seen the book around the internets but never paid it much attention until I read Nely’s review. This is how she started her review:
Oh my, this book scared the bejesus out of me! I thought this would be more of a fantasy, sci-fi type of read and instead I was taken into this maniacal, twisted world that gave me nightmares. I am serious! I still think about this book and I read it over a week ago.
And that is why I now what to read this book! Perfect example of how a good review can turn a book onto anyone, even a person who wasn’t initially interested.
