GUEST POST: Kelli & Natalie from I’d So Rather Be Reading

Id So Rather Be Reading The Book Vixen is pleased to welcome Kelli & Natalie from I’d So Rather Be Reading to the blog today.

What are your reading habits? Anything others might think strange?

Kelli: I like to read in complete silence...having the TV on distracts me.  If I can't have silence, I will put on my MP3 player, but will only listen to Christian songs that I know because they are less distracting.

Natalie: It has to be late at night and silent. No TV, music or kids :)

Do you have any other hobbies?

Kelli: Just shopping!  I have a book/clothing/music budget that I TRY to stick to every month.

Natalie: Oh lots! I love to sew, run, home improvement, I'll try just about anything except scuba diving (I always think a giant octopus is going to eat me when I am out at sea... )

You have said that a book receives "Stalker Worthy" status when you continue to think about it... what do you ponder (the continuation of the story, what if's, etc.)?

Kelli:I ponder the awesomeness of the book and go into a mild depression when the book is over, because I'm sad it's over.  I have a hard time starting a new book because I can't stop thinking about its Stalker Worthy predecessor.

Natalie: I always want more! I call Kelli in a frenzy and she talks me down. It usually takes me a week to get over a Stalker Worthy book.

What do you like best about book blogging?

Kelli: Meeting new people and talking about books!

Natalie: The people and all the creativity I see on their blogs, it can be really inspiring.

What genre(s) are your favorites and why?

Kelli: Historical fiction----because each one is so different.  I've always said, if you've read one FBI/mystery/medical thriller, you've read them all.

Natalie: Sci-fi/paranormal, I have always liked this genre from the books I read to the movies I watch. I come from a family that LOVES Halloween and we party the entire month, so weird is my middle name.

What makes the dynamic of "I'd So Rather Be Reading" so fun?

Kelli: That Natalie and I don't always agree on books and that we have different personalities.

Natalie: That Kelli and I are so different and yet a lot alike. People really get a kick out of our book debates... they get pretty dirty, even our husbands get involved :)

Keli shopping is my vice and my hobby so its really hard for me not to go over the limit.. Hubby tried to put a 50$ limit and I was like dude my jimmy choo's cost more than that LOL we still haven't reached an agreement but were getting there any advice for a shopaholic?

  4. Thank you for the compliments Tigris!

My shopping advice is this: agree with hubby on an amount you can spend each month, then you don't have to justify any purchases. Hubby doesn't care what I buy as long as I stick to my budget. It's taken 10 years, but I have worn him down and he's FINALLY starting to understand how much nice things cost. Having to justify to him what I buy is what always made me so crazy. Hearing him say, "but you don't need another pair of black pants, you already have at least 40 pair in the closet" and then me having to explain how this pair was different is what led to fights in the past. Now, I shop online mostly and use www.retailmenot.com for coupon codes to save money. We've reached a tenuous agreement about my shopping---for now! Good luck! If that doesn't work you can always lie and sneak...I tend to do that too. :)

What a great interview! I loved Kelli and Natalie's answers...their blog is one of my new favourites, and it's one of the many reasons I fell in love with book blogging. It's incredible to find others like myself with a passion for the written word. The creativity, time, and effort each person puts into their blog is just amazing :)
