The Book Vixen is pleased to welcome Elizabeth Kolodziej to the blog today.
Hello Everyone!
My name is Elizabeth Kolodziej and I am the author that wrote Vampyre Kisses. Today I thought I would give everyone a glimpse into the story behind the vampires I created.
Firstly though, I want you to have some idea what I am talking about. Here is the synopsis for Vampyre Kisses:
Vampyre Kisses is an enthralling story about a young woman named Faith, who was content with her life, but deep down craved more excitement. Then a mysterious man named Trent enters her life and everything changes. Surprising to Faith, Trent is a green-eyed vampire from Ireland. She is even more surprised to find out that she is a witch, and the last of her kind.Faith finds out that she is destined to restore her witch line and becomes more powerful as she gains confidence and knowledge, but danger lurks everywhere. Especially when unknown assailants steal the most important gems from the vampire master and werewolf royalty.
Now surrounded by a world full of mystifying vampires and werewolves, can Faith gain enough power to help her friends and rescue the stolen gems?
Now, some reviewers have commented that my vampires are in a world that is a little different from the norm. A lot of this has to do with the mythology that I include in my books. So how did that come about?
Well, simple enough, I love mythology! I especially love Greek mythology! I have been reading about Zeus and his daughters and sons for years now. So when I decided to write about vampires I really wanted to include them. And so I did, a lot.
Also, I read a lot about vampires to the point where its considered research, which is what I love doing. Since I was little I read stories of vampires and I decided that all of those things I hated I did not want to do in my story.
I was tired of reading about vampires hating what they were or vampires that drank animal blood instead of human blood so as not to be cruel. I love PITA, but I just couldn’t get in to a vampire not embracing him or her self by being kind to humans. So I went on a little different of a journey. Trent would talk to me and tell me why he loved being a vampire and what he didn’t love about being a vampire. So I wrote that.
Along with this, I wanted to keep to the more traditional ways of the vampire world. Such as sleeping in coffins, not being able to walk in sunlight, and having a master. I missed these aspects as I got older and authors started changing the rules. I decided to go back to my roots. But I of course had to add my own kinds of new aspects to this.
For instance, after being turned into a vampire, a fledgling can walk in the sun for the first 10 years of life. The reason for this is due to how vampires were first created. This is something that is explained in the book and I don’t really want to give it away because it is my favorite chapter and I like my readers to be surprised. Let’s just say that due to the way vampires were created they are slowly thrust into the night.
But what I love most about the history of my vampires is that I actually give a lot of details about their creation and why vampires hate werewolves. So many say that a vampire hates a werewolf but so few give the details why this is so. And I am sorry but you will have to read the book to figure it out.
Well that is a little taste of who I am and why I have created my vampires the way I have. Oh, one more thing, if you are curious why Trent is Irish … Well that is because there is not many sexier than a roguish Irish man.
Happy Reading!
