TBR pile: Magazine style

I have 30+ magazines to read through. How crazy is that?!!

Here they are stashed away in my bag:

magazines

In a nice pile:

magazines2

Here's what I got:

magazines3

Some of them were subscriptions, some I got from work (for free). I have since canceled all my magazine subscriptions with the exception of Self (it was a fundraiser purchase). They've been piling up for about 4 months now. One of these days I'll go through them all but not today!

Books: My Two Dollar Find

I was just browsing around at a bookstore outlet (used to be a Circuit City) a couple months ago. Then I found this for $2:

Winnie the Pooh A little bit of crayon and pencil markings on the cover

It used to belong to one "Kerrin Schoeninger"

Winnie the Pooh3

The illustrations are awesome:

Winnie the Pooh2

Winnie the Pooh6   Winnie the Pooh8

BFFs for life:

Winnie the Pooh7

The lady at the cash register couldn't believe the find. It was too cute to pass up.

What was your best find?

BBAW: Setting Goals

Setting Goals!

Write in 50 words or less…what do you like best about your blog right now and where would you like your blog to be a year from now?

The thing I like best about my blog is the opportunity to meet fellow bookworms. It's like our own secret society.

I would like to be established a year from now. Have my feet firmly planted. Have lots of reviews up. And have a giveaway. I plan to have my first giveaway when I reach 100 followers.

BBAW: Reading Habits

Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack?

Sometimes I'll have cookies or chocolate candy.

Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you?

No, no, no, no, no! Never mark books. That's sacrilegious!

How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears?

Sometimes I dog-ear *ducks* I try not to. I mean, I did get an Edward bookmark and all. Maybe if I got an Eric bookmark...that would completely cure me!

Laying the book flat open?

Creases displease me. I try to avoid creases as much as possible.

Fiction, Non-fiction, or both?

99.9% Fiction. The truth is just too boring.

Hard copy or audiobooks?

Hard copy. I'm a visual person so I need to read the text in order to absorb it.

Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you able to put a book down at any point?

I will put the book down when my eyes will no longer stay shut open. I'm a night reader.

If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away?

I gotta look it up right away. I always have my iTouch with me so I use my dictionary.com app. Love it!

What are you currently reading?

The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith

What is the last book you bought?

Evermore by Alyson Noel

Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can you read more than one at a time?

I am mystified by people who have that talent to be able to read more than one book at a time! How do you do it?

Do you have a favorite time of day and/or place to read?

Any time that grants me peace and quiet around the house so I can absorb what I'm reading. That tends to be at night when everyone's asleep. I like to read in bed or on the couch.

Do you prefer series books or stand alone books?

No preference.

Is there a specific book or author that you find yourself recommending over and over?

Nicholas Sparks and J.R. Ward. Hands down.

How do you organize your books? (By genre, title, author’s last name, etc.?)

My books are so not organized! I need to get a bookshelf.

Do you have a question for The Book Vixen? Ask me in the comments.

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey NiffeneggerTitle: The Time Traveler's Wife
Author: Audrey Niffenegger
Genre: Time Travel Romance
Source: bought
Published: January 2003

When Henry meets Clare, he is twenty-eight and she is twenty. Henry has never met Clare before; Clare has known Henry since she was six. Impossible but true, because Henry finds himself periodically displaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. Henry and Clare's attempts to live normal lives are threatened by a force they can neither prevent nor control, making their passionate love story intensely moving and entirely unforgettable. The Time Traveler's Wife is a story of fate, hope and belief, and more than that, it's about the power of love to endure beyond the bounds of time.

"Henry walks out of the building looking unhappy, and suddenly he cries out and he's gone. I jump out of the car and run over to the spot where Henry was, just an instant ago, but of course there's just a pile of clothing there, now."

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Caldwell, New York, has long been the battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the Lessening Society. It's also where Rehvenge has staked out his turf as a drug lord and owner of a notorious night club that caters to the rich and heavily armed. His shadowy reputation is exactly why he's approached to kill Wrath, the Blind King and leader of the Brotherhood.

Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood-even though his sister is married to a member, for he harbors a deadly secret that could make him a huge liability in their war against the lessers. As plots within and outside of the Brotherhood threaten to reveal the truth about Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in his darkening world, Ehlena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him-and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.
