Caterina Shaw's days are numbered. Her only chance for survival is a highly experimental gene treatment-a risk she willingly takes. But now Caterina barely recognizes herself. She has new, terrifying powers, an exotic, arresting body-and she's been accused of a savage murder, sending her on the run.

Mick Carrera is a mercenary and an expert at capturing elusive, clever prey. Yet the woman he's hunting down is far from the vicious killer he's been told to expect: Caterina is wounded, vulnerable, and a startling mystery of medical science. Even more, she's a beautiful woman whose innocent sensuality tempts Mick to show her exactly how thrilling pleasure can be. The heat that builds between them is irresistible, but surrendering to it could kill them both . . . for a dangerous group is plotting its next move using Caterina as its deadly pawn.

My Thoughts:

Caterina Shaw is a world renowned cellist battling a brain tumor. The tumor has taken her vision and now it is causing her so much pain, it has robbed her the only pleasure worth living for: playing the cello. She is dying and it's only a matter of time before the tumor takes her life. With nothing to lose, she participates in a radical gene treatment. She begins to wonder what exactly she has signed up for when she discovers her new powers. She's been accused of murdering Dr. Wells and is on the run.

Mick is a mercenary hired by Dr. Edwards to capture Cat and Mick is being paid the big bucks to carry out the mission. For Mick, there was an instant attraction to Cat. But he has to keep his emotions and desires at bay and take on the mission he has been hired to carry out. Until, Mick discovers that there is more to the story than what Dr. Edwards leads him to believe.

This book has what I like: action, drama, romance and suspense. I normally don't dabble in sci-fi but Sins of the Flesh wasn't overwhelming in that aspect; it was minute enough that it didn't lead me astray. I liked the main characters, Mick and Cat, and found myself rooting for them. Cat is definitely a woman who can hold her own, which Mick finds irresistibly sexy.

There is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end of Sins of the Flesh. Caridad leaves the ending open for the next installment, Stronger Than Sin, which I will definitely read. At the end of Sins of the Flesh, you will find chapter one of Stronger Than Sin, giving you a sneak peak. It's a taste of what's next to come, including an introduction to a new character, Jesse. He's another victim of the gene-treatment-gone-wrong, looking for a way out. Now, that little teaser, that was a cliffhanger! I can't wait for Stronger Than Sin to come out!

You can read the short prequel to Sins of the Flesh *here*.

  5. This one didn't do it for me..I think I wanted more action or romance..or something! It was just missing something for me...

However, the ending does leave it open - it was kind of creepy....I liked that part
