A SACRED OATH
A FALLEN ANGEL
A FORBIDDEN LOVERomance was not part of Nora Grey's plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgment.
But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life.
My Thoughts:
I first heard about this book when I started blogging, in late August. I was lucky enough to win an ARC of this book. Please note, my review is based on the ARC of Hush, Hush. From my understanding, the released adaptation has a different ending. For the record, I will get the released version to see how the two variations compare.
Let's talk cover. The cover enamored me. The cover compliments the storyline exceptionally well. I saw that cover and I knew I had to get my hands on this book; it was love at first sight. Angel falling from the Heavens above (shirtless no less), broken wing, feathers strewn everywhere. I read the synopsis, hoping it would hold my interest (it did), and knew I had to get my hands on this book. Two words to describe the cover: well done!
I love the name of the main characters: Nora and Patch. Definitely not names you hear everyday. It's gets tiring hearing the same names being recycled over and over. I'm hoping we'll learn Patch's real name in the next installment, Crescendo.
I heart Patch. I know he's the bad boy that you're suppose to stay away from because he's scary. But he draws you in. He manipulates you. He had me at first smile. The spark that ignited between Nora and Patch made me melt and put a dorky smirk on my face. If I was in Nora's shoes, I don't know how long all that built up sexual tension would have lasted before I'd be banging down Patch's door. The anticipation carries you through wanting more.
You can pretty much gauge how much I'm getting into a book by how fast I read through it. I started this book last night and finished today, after lunch. Normally, it takes me about a week to read a book (life gets in the way). I could not put this book down! It's definitely a page-turner. I had to find out what's going to happen and now!
For being her debut novel, Becca Fitzpatrick knocked it out of the park! I cannot wait for the sequel, Crescendo, to come out! Speaking of titles, I read somewhere that Becca's original title was something else but changed it to Hush, Hush because another YA book with the same title was coming out too. Anyone know what the original title was? I'm dying to know. Hush, Hush was originally titled Eclipse.
Fab review! Glad to hear you liked Hush, Hush, I did too! :)
ReplyDeleteI <3 Patch too :) Glad you loved it as much as me! I didn't know of the title change, hmm now I curious.
ReplyDeleteLOL at banging down Patch's door...
Great review. Makes me want to get my hands on a copy even more now ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat review! Thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteNot my favorite book of the year but it was a decent read.
ReplyDeleteGreat review!
I've been wanting to read this book. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteWendy - It really was a good read! I can't wait to get the hard cover of the released version to compare endings. I could see this book being made into a movie.
ReplyDeleteMel - I posted the question about the original title at a forum that Becca frequents. I hope she answers it. I'm dying to know!
Fiction Vixen - You gotta get this book!
Damn. A bad boy that you need to stay away from... Ideal. Will have to read this book this week.
ReplyDeleteI DESPISE this book but you wrote a great review. The fact that she was going to call it Eclipse is indicative of the fact that Hush Hush is a poorly executed Twilight rip off, IMO.
ReplyDeleteI'm one of the few that didn't find this book amazing... I don't really like Nora and it's a little annoying when it's the main character, but all in all I found the plot too easy. I discovered really soon who the mysterious person was and it's disappointing. But, for some reasons I prefer the sequel.
